Enhanced File/Folder Deletion in Box Drive
Proposal: Allow users to delete shared files and folders directly through Box Drive (File Explorer) and ensure that this action also removes collaborators' access.
Current Limitation: At present, users must delete shared files and folders via the web interface on box.com. This is because Box Drive mirrors the contents of the box.com web app account, and deletions made in Box Drive do not remove collaborator access.
Benefits of Implementation:
Improved User Experience: Streamlining the deletion process will make it more convenient for users, eliminating the need to switch between Box Drive and the web interface.
Enhanced Security: Ensuring…

Trigger a Box error when insufficient permissions to open a file in Box Drive
Right now, if you attempt to open a file from your Box Drive that you do not have download permissions to, it will throw a local application error and not a Box error indicating a permission issue.
From the end user perspective, this would indicate there was something wrong with this file or Box Drive failed to open.

Silently sign in users to Box Drive using their Windows Credentials.
“Enable silent account configuration. For info, see Silently sign in users to the OneDrive sync client with their Windows credentials. If a device is not already joined to Azure AD, enabling this setting will join it.”

Ability to force sync of Box Drive
Currently, Drive relies on event poll for updating cached contents, and if events (updates on web) are not picked up by Drive in a timely manner, then local contents get outdated (out of sync with web). As a workaround, we want the ability to force sync of a selected folder (maybe add a right click menu to force sync/refresh cache).

User can right-click on a folder in Box Drive and choose "Refresh folder" to get the latest updates made to this folder from Box on demand if they notice that some updates don't already reflect in Finder/Explorer.

Box Drive Login Authentication status window
User would like to have a status window to display the authentication process of Box Drive. This would make it more visible to the more basic users since the login process only shows in the system tray icon.

Box Drive compatibility with MacOS Big Sur
It appears Box Drive uses a legacy extension no longer supported with the latest MacOS release, Big Sur.
In addition, the new M1 based machines have been widely applauded for their performance and battery life. I assume this will translate to increased sales.
So when you do make Box apps Big Sur compatible, I would recommend building a universal app supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon.

Add file path to macOS Box Drive search function
Since macOS Finder will not search Box Drive by filename correctly, the only real way to search for files is using Box Drives built-in search function. This will successfully find a file, but it does not show you the path in the folder tree. Could you please add the containing folder and path in the search results box? Ideally the user would also be able to open a finder window directly to that containing folder directly from a click in the search results box.
Thanks!

Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP
Customers using security products Hibun DLP (https://www.hitachi-solutions.com/hibun/sp/) may see unexpected behavior with Box Drive. And Hibun doesn't have an exclusion mechanism. Therefore Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP

Warning/Prompt before deleting items in Box Drive
This is to avoid users accidentally deleting content in Box Drive. Users sometimes delete items unintentionally and it's too late for them when they receive email notifications.

We want to be able to see uploaders' email addresses in box drive.
We have an Box-powered upload spot on our website that feeds into a Box folder. Clients upload documents to us using this upload, and they are required to add their email address. In the browser version of Box it shows the email address of who uploaded the document in a column titled "Updated". In Box Drive, we can't see these email addresses. It would be very helpful to be able to see these email addresses in the windows file explorer using Box Drive.

Show same timestamp web vs. Box drive
To migrate from file share to use box, we initially uploaded the content from our file server via FTP. We managed to se the original timestamp of last file modification. So we get shown this timestamp at client side using box drive. But the web app shows the timestamp of uploading the file. Please make it show the same timestamp as BOX drive!

Sync Box to an external hard drive
This should go without saying, but internal hard disks are far too small for cloud storage to sync, especially when using the cloud storage for large files such as video editing. We have several Terabytes of data on ours that we access all the time, as a group of editors. It's an absolute dealbreaker that we're forced to use the default location of the local drive to sync files using Box Desktop, and we would like the option of choosing an external hard drive or even a secondary internal drive to sync to. Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive,…

Ability to open a file in Box Drive from a shared link accessed via the web
After opening a shared link in Web App, a user should be able to open the file directly in Box Drive.
125 votesThis feature is not currently planned, but it is a second-priority item for our team. A related feature—the ability to open a file in Box Drive from the web app—is on our roadmap and will be an initial step toward supporting this request. We will keep you posted on updates; please continue upvoting this request, as it helps us prioritize improvements. Thanks for your collaboration.

Seamless login for Box Drive in non-persistent VDI environments
Users have to log in to the Box apps (Box Drive, Box Notes, etc.) each time, as the user profile info is blown away from the non-persistent VDU environment after logoff. This results in a very poor user experience. They'd like to leverage embedded windows authentication if possible but are open to other ideas.
9 votesThis capability to persist credentials across non-persistent VDI sessions was released in v2.8 of Box Drive

Provide a Command/API to Log Out from Box Drive
Background:
There is currently no command or API available to log out from Box Drive programmatically.Request:
We would like to request the addition of a command or API that allows users to log out from Box Drive remotely. This would be particularly valuable for enterprise IT administrators who need to immediately terminate Box Drive sessions and clear local cache in the event of a device theft.Use Case:
- Remote logout of Box Drive when a PC is stolen, to prevent unauthorized access to corporate data stored in Box
- Clearing the local Box Drive cache remotely to ensure…3 votes
