  1. Certain Windows applications, don’t work with Box Drive

I would like to be able to use Windows apps (such as the built-in Photo app or Snipping Tool app) when opening image files in Box Drive.
In a company with strict security like ours, all apps that can be used are controlled by administrators, and free apps cannot be used without permission.
In addition, adding apps requires an almost hopeless application process, and free apps cannot be added due to security policies.
If BoxDrive could use Windows apps, that would solve this problem, so could you please make it possible somehow?

  2. Drive and Sync

It should be impossible to have both Box Drive & Box Sync installed and working on the same machine. An install of one should automatically be impossible until the other is removed from the machine.

  3. Support for MacOS Smart Folders with Box Drive

We need a better mechanism to identify files that have been updated within a given time period at a user level.

Currently, we rely upon email notifications, but Box email notifications are currently getting filtered on our network. The Smart Folders ability would address this problem.

  5. BOX Drive - Block local file/folder creation if user does not have write access

We do not allow creation of root folder in BOX. Also certain folders are read only for select staff. When using BOX Drive if they try to add content to an area they only have read access, the content is listed and appears to the employee, that they uploaded it to BOX. There is a tiny red dot but to many this is not sufficient to let them know the data is not being protected. Please configure BOX drive to not allow a local creation of content within the local BOX path if they do not have editor…

  6. Top folders in Box Drive should respect top folder restrictions

We currently have it set to “Only Admin can create and delete first-level folders, file and bookmarks”.

But it is still possible to create folders in Box Drive and store files within them, but they aren’t actually uploaded to Box (as users do not have permission to create these top level folders), and they are saved locally

  7. block an upload by external user using Box Drive with smart access

The current Shield feature only controls downloading, cannot blocks uploading/syncing and is not ransom-proof. The biggest problem is that when external users use BoxDrive and BoxSync, ransomware-infected files are uploaded/synchronized on Box.

  9. I want to share only the necessary folders and files on the BOX drive

Since it is troublesome to access BOX.com, I usually access and edit the necessary folders and files from the BOX drive, but it would be convenient to be able to display only the necessary folders and files. Currently, when you open a folder with "Windows + E", all the folders and files in "All files" of BOX.com are displayed on the BOX drive, but you do not access all of these, and you can save files that are accessed infrequently. I think you should check BOX.com to confirm.
I think it would be useful to…

We are currently not planning to implement this feature and will continue to prevent all Box Drive results from appearing in Explorer/Finder searches.

Box Drive does not download the all of the metadata (File name, folder structure, etc.) of your Box content. Instead, it is downloaded on demand and then evicted when it is no longer relevant. This eviction process is not visible to users and it is not easily predictable. This would cause the search results in Explorer/Finder to be inconsistent for users – sometimes they would find a file and other times they may not if the metadata and file were evicted.

We have chosen not to download all of the metadata (and then keep it up to date with changes) as this can result in a large performance, storage and bandwidth tax which is not scalable – especially in environments where users interface with millions of files/folders.

  11. Please make it possible to choose both .msi and .exe installers for Box Drive.

The reason is that administrator privileges are required during uninstallation, and end users cannot reinstall Box Drive when issues occur.

  12. Not delete data flagged as "make available offline" when Box Drive is closed/logged out

Currently if data is generated and saved locally on a machine into the Box Drive folder, exiting or logging out of the Box Drive application will delete the local data on the machine, even if the folder it is saved into is marked to "make available offline".

We are a small physics research laboratory currently trying to migrate our data collection and storage from Dropbox to Box. We were disheartened to discover that if data is generated on a local machine, by collecting and saving it directly into the Box Drive folder, say, and Box Drive is logged…

  13. Box Drive activity should show up in the recents section of the webapp

Would be great if the recents section showed in the web app showed all content recently used and not just content in accessed in the web app. When I am using Box Drive the webapp recents section does not pick up that content.

Intuitive surgical would like a "email digest" of all notifications received. Because most users leverage Box Drive and they do not see the notifications if they miss the email

  16. Keep third party's login token or credentials when logging out from Box Drive

Users need to log in to a web gateway before logging in to Box Drive.

If they log out, they need to login to the gateway again.

In WebApp, they don’t need to re-login the gateway after logging out from Box.

Therefore, Box should have any way to prevent this.

  18. Open as read-only when a user without edit permission opens the file in Box Drive

Open as read-only when a user without edit permission opens the file in Box Drive

Box Drive allows users without edit rights to download and edit files.
You can prevent this by setting the file to "read-only" when users without editing permission open it.

For example, if a collaborator with preview permission uses Box Drive, the file can be edited and saved on the user's PC.

As in the case above, to prevent files from being downloaded, edited, and saved on the user's PC, customers want to have function "read only" when users without edit permission open files from …

  19. Search function in file explorer window does not function in BOX DRIVE--FIX THIS PLEASE

Search function in file explorer window does not function in BOX DRIVE--FIX THIS PLEASE?
It's soooo bad that my boss will not use drive, reverted to and will only use sync do to the lack of search capability in windows explorer. He threatens frequently to move us to a different platform because of it. It is absolutely unacceptable to not have the file explorer search function with BOX DRIVE work identically to the way it workson BOX Sync
