1. Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP

   Customers using security products Hibun DLP (https://www.hitachi-solutions.com/hibun/sp/) may see unexpected behavior with Box Drive. And Hibun doesn't have an exclusion mechanism. Therefore Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP

2. Warning/Prompt before deleting items in Box Drive

   This is to avoid users accidentally deleting content in Box Drive. Users sometimes delete items unintentionally and it's too late for them when they receive email notifications.

3. Folders accessed via Box for Salesforce do not appear in Box Drive until re-login

   We’re finding that when a user visits a folder from Box for Salesforce, they then have access to the client folder from Box.com but it does not appear in Box Drive until they log out of Box Drive and back in.

4. Box drive to support SAML-based authentication

   We use Okta as a primary authentication method for Cloud-based applications like Box.
   Would like to see Box Drive to support for either redirect to main iDP configured at box account or naively support SAML-based authentication.

   Add auto-lock/unlock feature in Box Drive or provide a configuration tool

   In Box Drive v2.21, it is possible to enable the ability to automatically lock/unlock files when they are opened in Box Drive by modifying the registry.
   However, it is difficult for end users to modify the registry, so we would like to see Box Drive include the feature to automatically lock/unlock files, or provide a configuration tool (such as a batch file for registry modification) to modify the registry.

6. Box Drive Should Show Files With Illegal Filenames or Characters

   We need Box Drive to be able to point to the offending error in Windows Explorer or Finder. Click on the offending file, folder is opened and file is selected in Windows Explorer or Finder in order to fix.

   This is not something that we have on the roadmap for the foreseeable future. Notifications were suppressed for these items and we will be investigating different ways to make problem items in general more discoverable.

7. Request for Improvement of BOX Drive Proxy Server Authentication Response Function

   BOX Drive is not working properly in our environment.
   We recognize that BOX Drive is designed to read Pac files, but the communication is succeeding up to the proxy server according to the Pac file.
   However, it seems that it is not able to respond to the authentication response of the proxy server.

   As a result, when we open files in our Office products (Excel and Word) that cannot be opened in a web browser, we have to download the file once from
   BOX.
   This method is not productive for us.

   As a solution, we would like to be able to use BOX Drive to open files directly from Office products (Office desktop applications).
   Please consider improving the support for proxy authentication responses.

   Please note that SSL decoding is not performed for communications to BOX.

   弊社環境において、BOX Driveが正常に動作しておりません。
   BOX DriveはPacファイルを読み込む仕様と認識していますが、Pacファイルに従ってプロキシサーバーまでは通信が成功しています。
   しかし、プロキシサーバーの認証応答に対応できていないようです。

   これにより、弊社ではWebブラウザ上で開けないファイルをOffice製品（ExcelやWord）で開く際、
   BOXからファイルを一旦ダウンロードする必要があります。
   この方法では生産性が低下してしまいます。

   解決策として、BOX Driveを活用し、Office製品（Officeのデスクトップアプリ）から直接ファイルを開けることが望ましく、
   プロキシ認証応答への対応機能の改善をぜひご検討いただきたく存じます。

   なお、BOX宛の通信に関してはSSLのデコードは行っておりません。

9. Box Drive should preview files in windows explorer or Finder

   There is a feature in Windows Explorer that allows you to enable a preview pane that previews the contents of files inside of the explorer window. This does not work on files that are in Box Drive even for files that have been opened before.

10. Disable background sync of Box Drive (for throttled or metered connections)

    This feature would allow background syncing to be turned off for Box Drive. Because MFO and caching are stored in a "container" that is only available while Box Drive is running - there is no way to access MFO files while connected to a bandwidth limited internet connection. You either are forced to background sync or not have access to your MFO files.

    I've (mostly) adapted to using Box Drive instead of Box Sync.

    But a key feature that was lost is the ability to NOT SYNC folders that are marked for offline use.

    Because of the way the offline/cache is stored, the Box Drive MUST be running in order to access those folders.

    If you are working in a throttled/limited bandwidth environment, this can be problematic.

    For example - on inflight Wifi - if you have a synced folder that you are making many (even small) modifications to, Drive will blithely try to update all of those files - hogging bandwidth. Then GoGo decides you are using too much bandwidth and throttles you - even on other apps. Or I am using my phone's hotspot and a coworker drops a HUGE InDesign file into an offline sync folder - chewing through my data plan.

    Unless there is some secret that I haven't discovered, I'm in a catch 22. I can shut down Drive - but then I lose access to my offline files. If I leave it running, it hogs the bandwidth. (With Sync, I could kill the sync app and all my local files were fully accessible and editable. Get to the hotel and re-enable Sync and away it goes, matching everything up. Dropbox was even better - I could run a macro based on WIFI SSID name and issue a command line to enable or disable sync.)

    Best I've managed to do so far is use an app like "Little Snitch" to choke a particular apps access to the TCP/IP stack and fool drive into thinking I wasn't connected to the internet.

    Anyone else have a better solution?

12. Short cut link for the file in Box Drive should be available

    Windows shortcut link for the file in Box Drive is broken if the BoxDrive cache is deleted. If the shortcut exists, the file in Box Drive should be opened as far as it exists.

15. Send box drive logs to any email address

    Allow users to send box drive logs to a given email address rather than ONLY to Box Support. Remote debugging is difficult when we can't work directly with our end users' logs.

16. Allow Adobe Bridge to Show BOX Drive Folders/Files (Worked in Previous BOX Version)

    With the update to BOX Drive Version 2.24.208, Adobe Bridge no longer shows BOX folders and Files when opening files in the application. In pervious BOX Drive version, Adobe Bridge showed folders/files, just like any other files – either local or in other cloud applications. HUGE inconvenience to workflow. Please reinstate this functionality.

18. Force Box Drive to sync status with Box every time file is touched .

    for example: User A locks a file, User B opens the file in drive (the lock status still hasn’t sync’d down user’s machine yet)
    User B edits the file and tries to save but Drive will show that it wasn’t able to save back the change to box and creates a problematic file.
    User B closes the file, and then reopens the file. The change User B made still shows up.
    Onedrive checks for the latest status every time it opens a file or when you try to save a file it will sync status with what is in the cloud.

19. Add Ability to 'Open with Office Online' via Box Drive

    Users are not currently able to edit/open files to Office Online (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Online) from Box Sync / Box Drive

    The key use case of this is to allow users to enter into co-authoring mode when starting in Box for Desktop.

    REQUEST: Add an 'open in Office Online' option in the right-click menu for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files when in the Box for Desktop file system.

20. Dynamic installation of Box Drive

    I was tasked with making the Box Drive installer available for deployment via the Jamf Casper Suite on macOS. Software deployment policies from Casper run as the Unix root user - not the logged in human user - so any user folder modifications during the package install will be made to the root user's home folder. On macOS, the root home folder is located outside of /Users, hidden away at /private/var/root. However, after the Casper deployment policy runs, a new root folder is found in the Users folder where it doesn't belong. That root folder doesn't belong there and could cause some observant users concern that their computers have been compromised.
