  1. Box Drive activity should show up in the recents section of the webapp

Would be great if the recents section showed in the web app showed all content recently used and not just content in accessed in the web app. When I am using Box Drive the webapp recents section does not pick up that content.

  2. Box Drive built with the new architecture to not move deleted files/folders to the local Recycle Bin

For the new-architecture Box Drive, we have observed that deleting the following types of items primarily moves them to the local and Box Web trash.
    ・Folders with online status
    ・Folders with downloaded status
    ・Files with downloaded status

One of the reasons customers choose Box is to improve security (prevent information leaks), and they expect to operate in a way that “data is stored locally as little as possible.”
However, once items are moved to the local Recycle Bin, the deletion policies configured for the trash in Box are no longer applied to those items.

    We feel that the fact…

  3. Support for MacOS Smart Folders with Box Drive

We need a better mechanism to identify files that have been updated within a given time period at a user level.

Currently, we rely upon email notifications, but Box email notifications are currently getting filtered on our network. The Smart Folders ability would address this problem.

Support for Spotlight on macOS is out with the release of version 2.53 (https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/53361463306515-Box-Drive-v2-53-Release-Notes).

The request will be left in the "gathering feedback" stage, as Finder/File Explorer search functionality does remain limited.

  9. BOX Drive - Block local file/folder creation if user does not have write access

We do not allow creation of root folder in BOX. Also certain folders are read only for select staff. When using BOX Drive if they try to add content to an area they only have read access, the content is listed and appears to the employee, that they uploaded it to BOX. There is a tiny red dot but to many this is not sufficient to let them know the data is not being protected. Please configure BOX drive to not allow a local creation of content within the local BOX path if they do not have editor…

  10. Not delete data flagged as "make available offline" when Box Drive is closed/logged out

Currently if data is generated and saved locally on a machine into the Box Drive folder, exiting or logging out of the Box Drive application will delete the local data on the machine, even if the folder it is saved into is marked to "make available offline".

We are a small physics research laboratory currently trying to migrate our data collection and storage from Dropbox to Box. We were disheartened to discover that if data is generated on a local machine, by collecting and saving it directly into the Box Drive folder, say, and Box Drive is logged…

  11. I want to share only the necessary folders and files on the BOX drive

Since it is troublesome to access BOX.com, I usually access and edit the necessary folders and files from the BOX drive, but it would be convenient to be able to display only the necessary folders and files. Currently, when you open a folder with "Windows + E", all the folders and files in "All files" of BOX.com are displayed on the BOX drive, but you do not access all of these, and you can save files that are accessed infrequently. I think you should check BOX.com to confirm.
I think it would be useful to…

  12. Open as read-only when a user without edit permission opens the file in Box Drive

Open as read-only when a user without edit permission opens the file in Box Drive

Box Drive allows users without edit rights to download and edit files.
You can prevent this by setting the file to "read-only" when users without editing permission open it.

For example, if a collaborator with preview permission uses Box Drive, the file can be edited and saved on the user's PC.

As in the case above, to prevent files from being downloaded, edited, and saved on the user's PC, customers want to have function "read only" when users without edit permission open files from …

  13. block an upload by external user using Box Drive with smart access

The current Shield feature only controls downloading, cannot blocks uploading/syncing and is not ransom-proof. The biggest problem is that when external users use BoxDrive and BoxSync, ransomware-infected files are uploaded/synchronized on Box.

  15. "Intuitive Surgical Requests Email Digest for Missed Notifications on Box Drive"

Intuitive surgical would like a "email digest" of all notifications received. Because most users leverage Box Drive and they do not see the notifications if they miss the email

  16. allow Box Drive to be installed on only one profile of a computer, not all by default

I have Box Drive installed on my profile of my laptop, which causes issues when my partner logs into his profile - Box Drive tries to open and then hangs, causing delay for him to log on every time. I stopped it from opening on start-up but this change was applied to both profiles, meaning it is now slower for me to get into Drive on my profile.
I have reported this to Box Support and was told this was the default for Box Drive, that it runs on start up for all profiles and the only way to…

  20. Set up the Box Drive installer so the user gets to Single Sign On (SSO) by default

There are quite a few steps when logging in to Box when installing Box Drive. It'd be helpful for us if the users could get to the SSO window directly instead of first having to enter their email address and then click the (not so obvious) ”Sign In with SSO” link.

It'd also be great if the ”NORDUnet Box Service” could filter away the list of services based on the domain name in the email address the user just typed, especially since typing the name of the institutin and and then ”enter” (which I know one isn't supposed since…
