Limit the use of specific metadata templates to specific folders and specific user-owned content.
When using metadata, it is important to gain the benefits of adding and managing metadata templates, but at present, anyone with authority can use any metadata template.
You can manage your content more sophisticatedly by limiting the use of specific metadata templates to specific folders.13 votes -
Download a List of Folders
An option to download a .csv (or other convertible file) of the text titles of folders within a main folder.
(I am requesting as I need to verify contents in several hundred folders, and cannot easily keep track of what folder has or needs content. But also because I know other would find this useful for their own purposes as well)

Sorting - Don't Sort Folders First (Or Provide User-Level Setting to Choose)
The webapp (and mobile) have traditionally always sorted Folders, then Files (followed by Bookmarks) regardless of which sort order (name, updated, etc.) is chosen.

Open shared links on Box mobile app
When tapping an iOS icon tied to a Box shared link, the file should open immediately in the Box app instead of redirecting to the mobile web page where the user sees the option to "Open in Box App," "Download for free," "View on Box Mobile Site."

shared links need to remain the same if file is revised
We create PDFs from InDesign files, which I then right click the PDF and "Copy Shared Link" to send to our coworkers and place in a shared file. If we make changes to the InDesign file and resave the PDF with same name and address, the links should remain the same. Right now if we revise the PDF the links are broken and we have to resend new links to everyone and place in the shared files. (We used to use Egynte, and if we made changes to a PDF like this (same name, address) the links would still work…

Custom option to open shared link via Outlook
I would like to be able to configure detailed settings for shared links in the Box app for Outlook. I believe that being able to set passwords and expiration dates for open links directly from Outlook would provide an even smoother sharing experience.

Attaching Box shared links using the Outlook for iOS/Android integration, it defaults Shared Link permissions to open links and does not allow users to change the permission within the app. Users need to change the permission from Box

Have a personalized name for a shared file or folder
It would be great if we could apply a tag, or rename a file or folder to something private to the user rather than what the original owner named the file.
Today we can move those items into Collections to manage them with our own naming, but that doesn't resolve the issue of individual files or folders with ambiguous names. For example: I need to track certain files that a bunch of different teams are working on as part of "Company Project 1". I don't need to see everything the teams are doing, so they don't grant me access to…

Shared Link creation doesn't automatically add user to folder when adding file in Box for Office in Outlook
When adding a file to an email in Outlook and using the Box for Office integration to upload it to Box and create a shared link, you have the option to make the link visible to Invited Users Only. However, when doing this, it does not add all users as collaborators to the file so they can access the shared link. Ideally, the integration should add the users CC'd in the email ass collaborators if they are not collabed already so that they can access the Invited People only link

"Lock" a folder taxonomy
This allows a folder owner (or developer) to lock a folder taxonomy in place so that Editors can add and update documents but not create or rename folders.
58 votesDue to other higher priorities, we are not considering this item at this time.

Additional information on folder activity report for root folders
We have 150 plus sub-folders. Information we would like it to contain:
Date / Time
Date
User's Name
User's Email
Action
Item / Name
Size
Contained in Folder
Change Details2 votesIt is technically challenging to run activity reports on all subfolders within a folder. We will not be prioritizing this work at this time.

Inactive State: Do Not Hide Owned Folders for Managed User Collaborators (still hide for External Collaborators)
Currently the 'Inactive' User Status not only prevents the user from accessing their account, it also hides ALL owned folders for all collaborators.
Meaning if John Smith is changed to 'Inactive', all of the collaborators that are in his owned folders will no longer see those folders in their accounts.
REQUEST: Change this status to only prevent the user from accessing their account, while keeping their owned content visible for Managed User collaborators (keeping today's behavior of hiding for External Collaborators).
18 votesWe are currently re-designing our managed users page for performance and usability updates which will be released at the end of this year. We will revisit newer features to user management after we release our new UI. In the meantime, please add your use cases in the comments so we can have this feedback when we decide to pick this up.
