  1. Relaunch Box Drive After Auto Update

These updates do not notify users when done. Can this be an enhancement so users know when to start Box again?

  2. We want to be able to see uploaders' email addresses in box drive.

We have an Box-powered upload spot on our website that feeds into a Box folder. Clients upload documents to us using this upload, and they are required to add their email address. In the browser version of Box it shows the email address of who uploaded the document in a column titled "Updated". In Box Drive, we can't see these email addresses. It would be very helpful to be able to see these email addresses in the windows file explorer using Box Drive.

  3. Reconcile behavior between Edit and Drive after a conflict

There is different behavior between Box Drive and Box Edit when uploading after conflicted happened. We would like to change behavior as same as Box Edit. This difference might lead to be confusion for the customer.

    Actual Behavior at this moment:

    Box Drive
    1. User A opens and edits file X without lock via Box Drive.
    2. User B opens and edits file X without lock via Box Drive.
    3. User B saves the file X via Box Drive. Upload the changes as version 2 to file X
    4. User A saves the file X via Box

Request to improve synchronization speed between Box Web UI and BoxDrive"

We would like to request an improvement in the synchronization speed between Box Web UI and BoxDrive so that they can be synchronized within 5 seconds.
Our investigation of the synchronization speed is based on the following items.

Pattern (3) Upload to Box Drive and check the screen update on WebUI: Result: No automatic update even after waiting for more than 5 minutes.
Pattern (5) Delete the file on WebUI and check the update on Box Drive: Result: 20 seconds
    Pattern 6: Delete the file…

  5. Visual indicator of "Problem Items" in Box Drive taskbar icon.

Our users frequently have "Problem Items" or sync errors in Box Drive that they don't know exist. It would be incredible if the "box" icon in the task bar had a (red?) exclamation mark appear when there are persistent sync errors so that a user knows they need to check out the issues and fix them.

Otherwise they never know there are problems unless they happen to notice a red exclamation mark in the finder/explorer window if they are in the folder with the issue.

  6. Taskbar icon overlay for Box Drive to indicate if there are any "Problem Items"

Currently for Box Drive (for Windows) you have to go into the program then Box Drive Settings to view if there are any problem files. Most users will never do this.

Ideally there should be a red exclamation overlay on the taskbar icon if there are any problem files and they should be shown immediately when you click to open Box Drive.

This would help end users to see that not all their files are syncing and then ideally also show them the local path of the problem file (that they can click on to access) AND also give…

  8. Prevent items with restricted movement from being moved on the Box Drive display

If "Do not allow ownership of content to be transfered to external users" is enabled in the tenant settings, content cannot be moved to external tenants by users other than the administrator.

However, when content is moved in Box Drive, although it is not actually moved, it appears on the display as if it is stored in the destination folder, and it does not return to the original folder until the user logs out/logs back in to Box Drive.

Content whose movement is restricted by Classification Policies will immediately return to the folder in which it was originally…

  10. Avoid accidental edits! Set local OS ReadOnly flag initially on ALL Box Drive files; When User Clears local RO, auto-Lock file for editing!

Currently a user can very easily ACCIDENTALLY change a file locally in Box Drive without locking. This can be completely avoided by this:

EVERY file in Box Drive should initially have local OS (e.g. Windows) "Read-only" attribute set. If and when the user explicitly Clears/Unsets the Windows Read-only attribute, e.g. in Windows Explorer (or chooses "Lock File For Editing in Box Drive" from context menu), Box Drive shall AUTOMATICALLY Lock it in Box, ideally only allowing local editing within Box Drive. There could be a pop up message like "File Locked for editing in Box Drive;…

Please fix it button for overlay icons in Box drive's setting menu.

Sometime, Windows Explorer is missing overlay icons.
One of reason is order of registry key.

How to fix steps for overlay icons is in this community page.
Administrator can re-order registory key, but end user can not use regedit.exe.

Missing Box Drive Icons in Windows Explorer

  13. google shared drive

Allow Google Drive "Shared drives" content to be copied directly to the integrated Box extension in Gsuite. Currently, this is only available from "My Drive". The work around is to copy "Shared drives" content to "My Drive" (which in itself is awkward, because only files, and not folders, can be copied directly in the cloud), and then copy content from "My Drive" to Box.

  14. List Box Drive supported OS by name

Include the list of OS’s that are supported by name (i.e. Mojave, etc.)

Transparency for every day language for IT, and allows for more effective upgrade/rollout of Drive.

  15. Allow users to save column width settings in folder view (Box Web and Box Drive)

    Description:
Currently, when viewing folders in Box (both Web and Box Drive), the default column widths for fields like "Name" and "Modified Date" are too narrow. Users must manually adjust the column widths every time they open a folder. However, these adjustments are not saved, and the view resets to the default narrow widths.
This causes inconvenience and reduces productivity, especially for users who frequently work with long file names or need to sort by date.
    Feature Request:

Enable users to save their preferred column widths in folder views.
Apply saved settings persistently across sessions and folders.
    Optionally allow…

  18. Share folder as read-only/add folder to Box Drive from shared link

    Case:
I receive the agenda and related documents for meetings within the department I work at as Shared Links to a folder in Box. I want to access these documents during the meeting directly through Box Drive on my computer. The desired access includes any documents added after I first opened the link. All related accounts are part of the same organisation/"Company" (in this case a university).

    Current situation:
When I am signed into my Box account and open the link I can view the documents and have two options: "Save link" and "Download". The only way to get…

Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

  20. Certain Windows applications, don’t work with Box Drive

I would like to be able to use Windows apps (such as the built-in Photo app or Snipping Tool app) when opening image files in Box Drive.
In a company with strict security like ours, all apps that can be used are controlled by administrators, and free apps cannot be used without permission.
In addition, adding apps requires an almost hopeless application process, and free apps cannot be added due to security policies.
If BoxDrive could use Windows apps, that would solve this problem, so could you please make it possible somehow?
