3. Custom Box Skills apps should have the same security options as regular apps

   Currently when you go into the development console, create a new app, and select "Custom Skill", the configuration section gives you a client ID. However a "Custom app" gives you a clientId as well as a client secret in the OAuth 2 section. I have a box skill that generates metadata as well as facilitates an integration with another system, requiring me to create a client (box sdk) in order to modify sharing on the file and generate a link to view in the portal.

   To get around this I created a second app (Custom App) just for the auth - but that seems sloppy.

   Currently when you go into the development console, create a new app, and select "Custom Skill", the configuration section gives you a client ID. 4. Accurate File Count - Script Automation or Access

   As I've discussed with the BOX support team, BOX web interface does not display an accurate count of files. We upload thousands of files per day and when the count of files displayed by BOX is not accurate, we assume there was a network glitch and attempt to re-upload the thousands of files which results in unnecessary network bandwidth and computational resources.

   The BOX support team has access to a script they run to fix errors in the file count. Until the file count is accurately displayed in the web interface, it would be nice if BOX would automatically run this script or provide the script for Users to be able to run after they performed an upload. The automated execution of the script could be run as a last step of a folder upload or it could be scheduled to run 1 or 2 times per day as in a cron job. Ultimately the file count must be accurate for us to prevent unnecessary work to identify if all files were successfully received by BOX.

   We also have API access to our BOX account, so as a last resort, giving us the ability to run the script once we finished uploading thousands of files would be an acceptable solution until the problem is fixed by BOX.

5. Import data already on Box into DICOM viewer

   The only way to import images into the DICOM viewer right now is to upload directly using the import tool. This is problematic for two reasons: 1. large sets of data are handled better through Drive or Sync than a web interface and 2. data already in Box need to be downloaded and then imported (uploaded) again using the import tool, which is not practical when working with 10s-100s of GB of DICOM data. There should be a mechanism to import data already stored on Box into the DICOM viewer.

6. File size upload limit - Option to choose any file size from 1MB - 150GB

   I am suggesting a file size upload limitation setting to be lower than the existing 2GB.

   The reason why is because some companies who are hyper sensitive to malware and virus issues want the ability to deep scan EVERY file uploaded into Box. Currently, deep scan is only able to scan files that are less than 200MB in size. This is a gap that can be solved by reducing the maximum file upload size into Box to 200MB.

   While this greatly restricts the size of files being uploaded into Box, it gives the customer an option to choose one over the other. Reputation scan works for files of any size but for those customers wanting to leverage deep scan, restricting the upload limit of 200MB assures all files will be scanned.

   I am suggesting a file size upload limitation setting to be lower than the existing 2GB.

7. Include item type in user activity report

   When running an User Activity report, the Item ID is included, but not the Item Type. If you're trying to use the Activity report to perform some other action, you have to figure out what the item type is before you can perform the action. Additionally as ?good practice? you should make check both file & folder to ensure that you're not going against the wrong actual item if there's a item with the same type on the other endpoint.

   It would save some significant time on report consumer's side if the item type was included in the output report.

   If the item type was included we could
   1. Avoid need to find item type
   2. Ensure we will be acting against the correct item in case there is are items & files with the same ID.

8. Search for Users Currently on Legal Hold

   Currently we are dealing with a matter that has spiraled into a huge undertaking because of the way Legal Holds are implemented. Our client has enabled over 25 Legal Hold policies, each one has an average of 50 users. We have a list of over 20 custodians that we need to know which Legal Hold they are currently on, if any.

   There are two ways to implement this:
   1 - Allow Admins to see whether the custodian (or any of their data) is currently on a Legal Hold policy, which Legal Hold Policy it is currently on, and why it is on that Legal Hold Policy. Other users can interact with the file which places it on Legal Hold.

   2 - Provide a better Search function within the Legal Hold section of the Governance platform so that we can search for users who may be on multiple Legal Holds.

9. How to Replace SharePoint with Hubs

   🙏 Please help us deprecate Microsoft SharePoint by providing the following five features in Hubs:

   1. Pages within a Hub, preferably navigable in a horizontal structure at the top of the Hub (I believe this is already in the works - yay!)
   2. A no-code way to access/interact with a Viva Engage community that we have built to facilitate company-wide communication around many specific topics.
   3. Ability to place images directly on the Hub page and scale as desired, more like current capability in a Box Note (carousel view option)
   4. Ability to embed a video for viewing within the Hub
   5. Ability to assemble upcoming suggested events like webinars, meetings, conferences, etc. (carousel view option)

   Bonus Feature: some type of progress tracker visualization bar/ tool that provides at-a-glance project status awareness. Even if the object requires manual editing to instigate visual advancement, that's still very useful!

10. Password protected folders - systems allows setting password not meeting log-in criteria

    When I set shared link with customer, I generate password for him and send it to him so he can access the folder. System allows me to create password which is not accepted by the system when the customer wants to sign in! That is very embarrasing.
    For example today I created shared folder, made a password (long enough, but containg only one number) and sent it to the customer to cooperate. System allowed me to set the password, but when the customer wanted to access the folder, he had to use the password but it was not accepted because system told him that the password must contain at least 2 number. So I had to change the password adding another number.
    It would be great if the system would check the password criteria also during setting one.

    Currently Box sheild has the capability to Scan only newly updated/created files or only if the existing file is modified. In simple terms the scan happens only for the newly created version of the files and not any existing files before Box shield is being implemented.

    Feature request:

    1. We need to have the option of Scanning all the files at rest & transit in Box irrespective of when it was created/ modified, etc so that it can detect any malware on already available files as well.

    2. Currently Box only encrypts the file with a red banner on top if malware is detected however we wanted to have an option to Block or quarantine the file in real time if a malware is detected while uploading/downloading a file or if its detected on already available files in Box.

12. Add a "View All Tasks" button to the left menu

    To view all tasks, you need to press the clipboard icon and then select "View All Tasks."

14. Shared link - colour code the link icon to advise who it is shared with Public, invited only etc

    Currently if a file or folder has shared link enabled it, it places a blue symbol between the file name and last updated date. You have 2 options to see what the shared link is enabled as either by clicking onto the link symbol and it shows the properties of the enabled link or highlighting the folder/file and looking at details on the right hand side.

    It would be better if the symbol was perhaps a different colour to show it was the different status e.g blue -invited only - green - people in your company - red -public

    or if you hoovered over the link instead of just say copy shared link it states what the share setting is.

    I think the colour option is better as it advises you straight away without having to do anything

15. Share this link. Box.com's aggressive marketing misleads our customers.

    Hello Box!

    Unfortunately, we cannot fully use your product due to your company's aggressive marketing, which misleads external users.

    The problem lies in the implementation of sharing public links to files or folders with external users:

    1. When an external user opens the link, they see a pop-up message from Box in a green field (as shown in screenshot 1): "Log in to Box to save all files you view in your Recents and return to them at any".

    If our client does not click the small white cross on the right to close this message, they are redirected to the Box login page, even though they received this link to view a presentation or download it.

    This service message also hides the important "Download" button, which our client does not immediately see.

    This service message is clearly part of aggressive marketing to attract new users to the Box service at the expense of convenience and efficiency for its current clients.

    Solution we propose:
    Disable this message, as it misleads our clients and forces us to use Google Disk for file sharing, since it doesn't have such issues. For an ordinary person who is not familiar with Box, it's not obvious how to download a file.

    1. When a client who received the link still finds the "Download" button and clicks it, they are again misled if they are an inexperienced user: they are prompted to join or log in to Box (screenshot 2).

    Solution:
    Please remove these buttons and messages, leaving only the status that the file is downloading, as is done in Google Disk and Dropbox. Why this aggressive marketing that harms real clients?

    1. Please place the "Download" button in a visible spot next to each file when hovering over it. Currently, you need to click the "three dots — more options" icon for this (screenshot 3).

    We would be very grateful if you take our suggestions into account, as we are sure this will make your service more convenient and even more popular among a larger number of users. This way, we won't have to use Google Disk for these tasks, fearing to mislead our clients and constantly explaining how to download a file via the link.

16. Asynchronous API calls that return a JOB_ID rather than having the session cancelled after 60 seconds

    Currently API calls like the "Move Owned Items" almost always run longer than 60 seconds. As a result the session is killed by the Box infrastructure. The "Move Owned Items" task continues to run in basically an asynchronous background mode. But once this happens, the automation process has no way to check the status of the "Move Owned Items" task.

    A graceful way to handle this would be to return control back to the caller normally with a JOB_ID that can be used to call back to the "Move Owned Items" API call to check the status of the "background" asynchronous task.

    Currently there is no way to know if the task is finished and if it was successful or failed.

    This has been an issue now for about 2 years. Would be great if this could be resolved!

17. Native Finder-search (MacOS) is mandatory

    "Mac search tools, such as Spotlight, Finder search, tags , do not return search results from Box Drive. Use Box Drive's search functionality instead."

    Box Drive is not fit for purpose, since it forces every single file-search in the user's home directory to be executed twice:

    • once in the home directory
    • then again using Box spotlight search
    • then put the 2 Finder windows side by side and do a manual inventory - unbelievable

    I frequently search my home directory. The poor search functionality is a major miss, affects my work badly

    Please look to Google Drive functionality which is far superior in every way that I can see

    If there's a fix on the cards within the next quarter I can overlook it. With immediate effect, I will be using Box as little as possible, and that might expand to never using Box other than when I absolutely have no option other than to browse, navigate, drag/drop a folder

18. I want to make it so that access statistics for operations by administrators are not left behind (stealth).

    【Current Specifications】

    1. Log in to the target user as a proxy and access the site.
       → The operation by the administrator is recorded as the access statistics of the proxy-logged user.

    2. Access from the "Contents" function of the management console.
       → The operation by the administrator is recorded as the access statistics of the administrator.

    When a user deviates from the organization's rules (service rules, security rules, etc.) in the use of Box, a case is envisioned in which the administrator wants to view or download files owned by the user concerned as evidence of the deviation.
    If access statistics information is left, the user concerned will notice that the administrator has performed some operation, and there is a possibility of destruction of evidence of fraud, so we want to prevent this.

19. Preview support for PST and MBOX

    AS A Box User who accesses pst and mbox files in Box
    I WANT to be able to view those files in the Box Preview window
    SO THAT I do not have to download the files from Box and open them with another application.

    BACKGROUND:
    1. ATB Financial has completely migrated off of Microsoft Office to GSuite, using Box as our ECM solution.
    2. We support our Corporate Investigations, People and Culture, and Legal Services teams with e-discovery requests - specifically gmail and Google Chat exports from Google Vault.
    3. Google Vault exports gmail and Google Chat messages in either pst or mbox format (user choice).
    4. We share Google Vault exports with our stakeholders using Box. Stakeholders currently have to download the exports from Box and open them with other applications.
    5. We have migrated our customer records from Documentum to Box. Migrated customer records include pst files of email interactions with customers. These files must be downloaded from Box to be opened with another application - which is not a desirable user experience.

20. Per-Application Control for AI API

    【Current Behavior】
    The AI API setting in the Admin Console is currently a tenant-wide
    toggle (ON/OFF). Once enabled, all custom applications (both
    Server Authentication and OAuth 2.0 apps) under the enterprise
    can invoke AI API endpoints. There is no mechanism to permit or
    restrict AI API usage on a per-application basis.

    【Problem / Business Impact】
    Because AI API consumption is billable, administrators cannot
    selectively allow AI API access only for specific sanctioned
    applications while blocking others. This creates the following
    risks:

    1. Uncontrolled billing exposure: Any application with AI API scope enabled can trigger consumption that the administrator did not sanction, leading to unexpected charges.
    2. Blocked adoption: To avoid unintended billing, customers are forced to keep AI API disabled at the tenant level, which prevents legitimate, pre-approved applications from leveraging AI API capabilities.
    3. Lack of governance: Administrators have no way to audit or enforce which applications are permitted to consume AI API resources, conflicting with standard enterprise governance requirements.

    As a result, customers who want to pilot AI API with a limited
    scope, or who want to separate billable vs. non-billable
    application usage, cannot proceed.

    【Requested Feature】
    Introduce per-application control for AI API access. Specifically:

    • In the Admin Console (or Developer Console application management), allow administrators to explicitly allow or deny AI API access for each individual custom application.
    • The setting should override the tenant-wide toggle, or at minimum be evaluated in addition to it, so that administrators can maintain a default-deny posture while whitelisting specific applications.
    • Provide visibility (e.g., via Admin Console or reporting) into which applications are currently permitted to consume AI API.

    管理コンソールのAI API設定は、テナント単位のON/OFFトグルのみ

    AI APIアクセスをアプリケーション単位で制御する機能の実装を
    要望します。具体的には以下の通りです。

    ・管理コンソール（または開発者コンソールのアプリケーション
    管理画面）において、個別のカスタムアプリケーションごとに
    AI APIの利用可否を明示的に許可／拒否できるようにする。
    ・当該設定はテナント単位のトグルを上書きする、もしくは
    併せて評価される仕様とし、管理者がデフォルト拒否を維持
    しつつ特定アプリケーションをホワイトリスト化できる運用を
    可能とする。
    ・現時点でAI API利用が許可されているアプリケーションを
    管理コンソールまたはレポート機能から可視化できるように
    する。
