  2. Run report to demonstrates permanent deletion of files

I really need the ability to run a report that demonstrates that my files have been permanently deleted.

Given requirements in the various data privacy laws across the world, our company may be required to delete data or files at any time, and provide proof of deletion. However, once something is deleted from our Box account, it sits in Trash for 30 days before being permanently purged. (And, if I understand correctly, the data may be recoverable for 14 days after that?)

  3. [Support preview of ".xct" files] Support preview of ".xct" files

We use DocuWorks for our business.
At this time, the Box preview supports ".xdw" and ".xbd", but unfortunately ".xct" is not yet supported.

A similar request was submitted on the following BoxPulse, which was "Delivered" as of 09/2022, but only the ".xct" is still not in preview.
    https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778-help-shape-the-future-of-box/suggestions/39875047-preview-files-about-xdw-xbd-and-xct-in-box-for-io

Therefore, we need to register Fujifilm's source files with AppleStore in order to use DocuWorks from Box for EMM.
It is very inconvenient that ".xct" cannot be previewed when using DocuWorks, so please add it to the preview support list.

  4. Prohibit that an external collaborator deletes files

When some user invites an external collaborator as "Editor" to some folder, the external user can delete any files in the folder. The deleted file is sent to the external collaborator's trash. It's not good for some security-centric customer, so they need the function to prohibit that an external collaborator deletes files to protect their assets.

This should be managed through our existing permissions framework rather than a specific policy. If an external user deletes a file, it also lives in the owner’s trash folder who is a managed user in this instance.

  5. Box for Microsoft Office Co-Authoring for Password Protected Files

Unfortunately, co-authoring option is not currently supported for password-protected files. Box have told me this is because the system considers the password protection as a lock.
Therefore bringing it your attention to add this feature request.

Also we are finding that co-authoring takes a lot long to open files and it is not as smooth as its made out to be.

  6. Create a subflow for rejected files in Box Relay

In Box Relay, when an approval task occurs and the file is rejected, there should be an option to create a subflow for the rejection. Right now, we can only set-up a task or do nothing.

We use metadata to categorize our files and trigger other relays. Right now, both unprocessed files and rejected files have no tag, because the rejected task workflow does not allow more actions to be taken on the file.

We would like to be able to create a general task for our users, tag the file, and move the rejected file to a separate folder,…

  7. When users delete folders, we want not only the folders but also the files within to be shown in Trash.

When users delete folders, we want not only the folders but also the files within to be shown in Trash. Here is the behavior we noticed: a. We enable "Restrict content creation" in Enterprise Settings. b. User who is not the owner of the folder deletes files. -> The files will be shown in Trash. c. The same user deletes the folder which the files above existed in. d. The files which were deleted in process "a" are no longer shown in trash, making users unable to restore them, unless they restore the folder itself. e. However, the files

  8. Allow user configurable files and folder list length in list view

As we move file shares into Box, we are getting more and more users who want to see/configure a longer list(or possibly scrollable list) in the files/folder list view. Essentially, they don't want to have to click every 20 files or so to browser their way through a list of 1000 files in a folder -- they just want to see what's there.

  9. Add option to cancel workflow, move files to trash automatically on reject

On rejecting, the workflow options are to go back to a previous step or to complete the workflow. However, if you reject, you may want the workflow to end and if the file has been rejected you certainly don't want to save it to the approved files directory (this has happened to us recently and caused a problem with a customer). On rejecting there should be a different option - to cancel the workflow and trash the files or auto-select a "rejected documents trashbin folder" in order to avoid accidentally saving rejected files to an approved files directory. This sounds…

  10. Bulk converting files to most-recent latest version

Recently for some unknown reason, many of my files content were lost (size showed 0 bytes and could not be opened).

I had to revert those files back to most recent previous version MANUALLY, 1 BY 1 to recover my files (there were 200+ files affected). Please consider allowing bulk version revert.

Also, will be great to be able to search files with potential errors (e.g. 0 Bytes), so I don't have to manually locate them.

    Thanks

  11. More than 150 files in collections

Expand the number of available items that can be added to a collection.
We have users who work on campaigns and need to collect files from lots of different locations, this and in come cases exceed 400 files, and we believe the limit is currently 150.

  12. Make Shared Excel files only editable in Excel online, not downloadable.

Create an access level for Word and Excel files that allows the user to edit them online, but not download them to /upload a new version of them from their computer. Basically, online edit only.

  13. Cannot see # of files in current folder (without subfolders)

In order to get the # of files in a given folder, I have to look at the total files for that folder from the parent directory, and go through each subfolder and subtract from the total. This is a very silly way to do this and seems to be an oversight. Can BOX add this data?

Same thing applies to folder size as well.

The "Details" tab should include: Current folder: # of files, Current folder: size, Current folder / subfolders : # of files, Current folder / subfolders: size.

  15. Allow uploading of files to locked NetSuite records

NetSuite workflows or script can lock a record, typically for approval purposes. Box file behavior should follow standard NetSuite file cabinet attachment behavior, namely, attachment permission is separated from the lock record function, so that files can still be attached, deleted, or renamed in Box on locked NetSuite records.

  17. I would like to see a lock feature implemented so that tenants with the "Box for Microsoft Office" feature enabled can occupy and edit files

Tenants with the "Box for Microsoft Office" feature enabled will not be able to update locked files.
As an alternative, the following procedure may be applicable, but has the following disadvantages

    ■procedure
     ①Lock the target file
②Download the file and update it locally
     ③Upload updated files
     ④Unlock

    ■demerit
     Many steps and cumbersome
If another user downloads > edits > uploads a file that is locked, the file will be updated.

Therefore, I would like to see a lock function implemented so that files can be occupied and edited like Box tools.

  18. Rollback all files uploaded even if one fails to upload

Under the current design, when uploading multiple files, the successful files are stored in Box, even if one of the uploads fails. As a result, subsequent processing, e.g. adding metadata, may also not take place. This is inconvenient for the user under the usecase of using File Request+Metadata. The user has to look for files that were not uploaded and has to check the metadata for files that were uploaded. And if the uploader is anonymous, it's impossible. This Pulse requests that if one or more uploads fail, the uploads of other files performed in that File Request are…

  19. Show path of synced files with errors

Box currently only shows the folder and file name of an element that had an error with syncing but no path. If you have a lot of files and folders it's impossible to find these elements and fix the sync error, especially if a file has a repeatedly used or undescriptive name.
It doesn't work to search the box folder on Mac and I can't search files that haven't been synced yet in the web interface, so at least the pathname should be displayed, so I can find the affected file locally.
