Restrict Box Drive files from being viewable/accessible from Windows command prompt
Box Drive files can actually be viewed and manipulated (to some extent) from Windows command prompt. We are concerned about the potential for malicious command line scripts that could be .run to steal information from our Box tenant

Manage Folders and Files by Other Users
I recently noticed that, as an administrator/owner of The Animal League of Green Valley account, I cannot see folders and files deleted by other users.
This caused a serious problem when a user accidentally deleted a folder and then left for an extended leave.
I expected to be able to enter "Trash", see the folder and restore it; however, it was not visible to me.
Fortunately, we were able to contact the user who deleted the folder, and that person was able to restore it, but the situation could have been much worse, disastrous actually.
It seems to me that…

Syncing bookmarks and Windows shortcuts between Box Drive and online.
To better organize my personal Box files and share with teams, I've saved my files in the team folder and used a Windows shortcut (in Box Drive) in my personal Box folder to link files/folders elsewhere on Box. Box Drive doesn't sync Window's shortcuts so these links are lost when working online. The workaround online is to use the bookmark function, using file/folder URLs to create shortcuts. It would be great if bookmarks or window's shortcuts synced between online and Box Drive modes. At the moment I'm having to bookmark online and shortcut on Drive to link up files…

Copy files to Relevant Folders based on Tags or Automation Rules
We would like to setup Automation rules for folders that would COPY and not MOVE new files to designated folders.
To take the idea even further, if the COPY could be triggered by a TAG assignment, it would be even better, because some of the files in the affected folder should not be copied, while other should.

Disable downloading of files to those not on an Allow List
I have files I want hiring managers to see but not download. Give me the option (on files or folders) to allow/disallow downloading. Also, when a person wants to download, have it email me for permission of a one-time download or adding an email address to an Allow list if that person logs into Box.

Add folders and files to a Legal Hold via the UI
Currently, Legal Holds can only be applied to custodians (people) via the UI, but other options (files, folders, and specific versions) are available via API - https://community.box.com/t5/For-Admins/Legal-Holds/ta-p/19886
This request is to add UI support for adding files and folders to a Legal Hold via the native Box Admin Console UI.
11 votesPlease see https://community.box.com/t5/Box-Product-Updates/Folder-Level-Legal-Holds/idi-p/69643 for additional detail. We don’t plan to add files at this time, but have added folders.

auto classification policies/engine to apply scanning of files within a compressed file
Extend auto classification policies to compressed files (content within the zip) as well and have shield policies be able to enforce rules established for certain classifications. If something inside the unprotected compressed file is detected according to the auto classification policies, apply the same classification to the compressed file so the shield policies are adhered to.
Without this, shield policies can be bypassed by simply zipping a file that would have triggered shield policy as the scan doesn't currently scan files within the compressed file.

playback speed controls for audio or video files
At the moment, the Box Mobile app for iPad doesn’t include playback speed controls for audio or video files, so I suggest to add this function. The web already has this function. It would enhance the audio user playback!

Add support for File name sensitivity
Box currently doesn’t support the notion of file sensitive file and directory names like Linux does, so backups to Box, for example with rclone, lose similarly named files that only vary in case.
For example, you can only have File1.txt and file1.txt, but no both in Box.
In comparison, there’s no such limitation in Google Drive and Linux file systems, for example.
Please add support for file name sensitivity.

BoxDrive Moving files between folders with different owners using
BoxDrive When using to move files in different folders with different folder owners, the file owner cannot be changed and an error occurs. This can be done using the Box browser, so I would like to be able to do the same with BoxDrive.

Ability for users with viewer privileges to open files in desktop applications
In BoxWeb, users with viewer privileges have the "Open" button grayed out and cannot deploy files on the desktop.
However, BoxDrive allows users to open Office files as "read-only" even if they are viewers. With BoxDrive, when a file with viewer privileges is opened, it is extracted in the Office application, but with BoxWeb, if you want to view the file using the Office application, you need to download the file, which is time-consuming and cumbersome.
I would like to see an improvement so that the file can be extracted directly in Office without downloading.

Prevent text files from being truncated in Preview Mode
When working with Box, we gather data which we lock down using the classification tooling within Box. This prevents engineers from downloading sensitive or customer data to their personal workstations or unauthorised areas and is generally very useful.
However a main use case for us is allowing engineers to read through very verbose (long) log files which our product generates. When a customer provides us with these log files, we cannot always read important information, as box will truncate the view of these long files and inform the user that they should download the file to read it in…

support the preview of other types of compressed files such as .7z, .TAR, and .XIP
It's very helpful that Box now supports previewing Zip Files as noted at https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044196713-Previewing-Zip-Files, and we would like to know if there are plans to support the preview of other types of compressed files such as .7z, .TAR, and .XIP?

Ability for users to set sorting preference
Box is not longer default showing files by file name. This requires resorting of files every time I open a folder, which is hundred of times a day.
Please enable users to set the default sorting order for folders or restore the prior defaults
44 votesHi there! Setting sorting preferences is supported in Box Drive. Please let us know if it still doesn't work for you.

List of files detected as abnormal downloads
Content: Currently, Box Shield cannot output a list of files detected as abnormal downloads, so a report must be output and presented to the user for confirmation.
If there are a large number of detections, it is not practical to check them one by one.I would like to see a feature implemented that allows you to check a list of affected downloads if an abnormal download is detected.(日本語)

Input file/folder ID instead of folder name in Files and Folders report
Quite often folders with same name appear when the folder name is entered for filtering the folder to create the report, resulting in the report being incorrect although after long time waiting for the report to be ready.
By allowing to filter by file/folder ID instead of folder name, such mistake can be avoided and the the filtering can be made more accurate.10 votesGreat news!
We've rolled this out in a recent release. Thank you for helping make Box better!

Block users from placing content into File Explorer locations that they don't have rights to within Box
The current user experience can be confusing to the user, because they are able to place files into File Explorer even though they don’t have rights within Box to write to that location. Box Drive does issue notices that the files are not syncing to the server; however, this can still create an issue for novice users, since the files still exist within File Explorer and allow the user to make changes to the files locally. It would be preferred if Box Drive blocked the user from placing anything into that location within File Explorer.
