1. Allow http://127.0.0.1 as redirect_url in published box apps

   It is currently disallowed to use redirect_urls of the form http://127.0.0.1 in published apps.

   These give the error "insecureredirecturi".

   These are allowed in unpublished apps.

   Having a redirect to 127.0.0.1 is very useful for native apps which run on the users computer (eg rclone https://rclone.org ).

   It is pretty much impossible to do https to 127.0.0.1 - you can't get a valid certificate for it. See this link for details: https://letsencrypt.org/docs/certificates-for-localhost/ - and also for reasons why using http://127.0.0.1 is treated as secure by browsers.

   I'll describe how rclone, a native CLI app works. Rclone runs on the users computer - it runs a local webserver to get the auth details so the communications done over http are from the users browser to the users computer and never reach the LAN or Internet. Modern browsers treat http://127.0.0.1 as secure as the traffic never runs over the Internet or even the local network.

   This is more secure than having to use an external https server which then redirects to http://127.0.0.1 as the credentials go straight to the CLI application and don't have to go over the Internet at all or travel through another server.

   Note that almost all the other oauth providers that rclone supports allow http://127.0.0.1 redirect_urls, this includes Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Cloud Storage, Google Photos, Hubic, MailRu, pcloud, sharefile, Yandex (and more!)

   So box is looking like the odd one out here!

Upon discussing the matter with your developer advocate, I was informed that the behavior I observed, where context menu options are not available for multiple file selections, is by design.

   While I understand that there may be considerations and design decisions behind this behavior, I would like to provide feedback from a developer's perspective. It would greatly enhance the flexibility and usability of Box integrations if there were an option for developers to declare whether their integration supports actions on multiple files. 3. Would have appreciated more notice in regards to changes made depreciating the old API when File Request was released.

   We missed the notice where everything using the old app would break. We had used this app to embed many upload widgets in web pages, then they all broke simultaneously. We were left scrambling to fix every page that was broken. It’s just a lengthy process on our end to replace the functionally that was broken in our all live pages.”

8. Stop or modify instant suspension of new user email addresses on account setup, or give admins access to your blocklist

   When a new user account is set up, a confirmation email is automatically sent to the login address for the account. Currently, if this message is bounced, the user's email address is immediately placed on your block list.

   So - I create a new staff email account in 365, then use that email address to set up a Box account. Box immediately sends a confirmation email message - but 365 is having a slow day and the gateway hasn't yet caught up with accepting messages for that address. The confirmation message is bounced, and the user's email address is immediately placed on your block list.

   The problem is that I (as the Box and 365 admin) have no way of knowing this. Box does not inform me that it has happened - it simply offers me the option to resend the confirmation email, and does not tell me that this option can never work because the address is being blocked behind the scenes. So I waste many hours trying to trace the messages in 365, and to find out why they haven't arrived. I resend from Box several times, with the same result.

   This is stupid, in three different ways:
   1: When sending email messages of any kind, all sensible systems wait and retry at least once before deciding that the message has failed. Why doesn't Box do this before placing an address on a hidden blocklist?

   2: As admin/co-admin I really need to know when one of my user account login addresses is being blocked by Box - but I have no way of finding this out.

   3: As the Box account creator, I really need to know when the confirmation email message has bounced back, because it means that the account creation has failed and the user will not be able obtain a password, even if I try (apparently successfully) to resend the confirmation. Your system does not notify me when it blocks an account signup email address.

   Please implement at least one of the following:

   A: When a confirmation message for a new account is bounced, send a notification to the admin/co-admin who tried to create the account that this has happened, and how to resolve it.

   B: When an email address is being blocked, it makes no sense to present admins/co-admins with a link to send any kind of message to it. Please stop doing this.

   C: When a new account confirmation email is bounced, please wait 15 minutes and retry before blocking the address.

   D: Give admins/co-admins access to the list of emails in their domains which are on your blocklist - even if this access is read-only. At least then they can see what the problem is, and contact support to have an address removed.

9. Quarantine Folder Customization

   We'd like additional customizations for quarantine files including search, notifications, and outreach to folder owners.

   Is there a way to notify the folder owner and co-owner if an item is quarantined? We don’t see anything in the Admin Console to set that.

   Alternatively, is there a way to customize the quarantine email to add a contact instead of “your administrator”?

10. Turn off notifications for FTP connections

    The ability to turn off notifications for FTP connections (Box sees them as a "new connection" so you get an email for every session).

    The only way to turn it off is to disable all "new connection" notifications (which we do not allow, nor do we want).

11. Ability to customize download policy thresholds

    Currently the policy thresholds are automatically set by our algorithms, and the policy is triggered on a per minute rate basis and one hour time window. This has caused alert fatigue for the customer because so many notifications are generated every few minutes based on these thresholds that they aren't able to update or customize.

    We will be looking at how to reduce the noise but it might not be through enabling customization.

12. manage members

    Under my organization we have a shared folder for over 1000+ members, but as you may know this is a global organization where we add or remove resources over the time. At this moment I can add them but I do not know how can I remove them. For this I will appreciate to have an option to export the list as CSV file, and as well an option to add or remove permissions in a bulk.

16. Behavior of checkbox [Disable all email notifications for all collaborators] in folder settings.

    [Email and Notifications] section in folder settings ([...] > [Settings]) , when the settings saved with checkbox [Disable all email notifications for all collaborators] selected, the radio buttons [Use my default notification settings] and [Override default settings for this folder and all subfolder] remaining inactive even if the checkbox selections cleared.
    Therefore, when I change the setting of radio buttons I have to save it once.
    It is inconvenient, so it needs to be improved so that radio buttons can be activated without saving once when the checkbox is cleared.

18. Make bulk user upload more robust and improve error notifications

    I attempted to bulk-add ~250 users. This turned into a long run of whack-a-mole and required Box Product Support intervention because:

    a) Rows that did not have errors were not processed
    b) Rows that did have errors sometimes failed silently (sometimes perhaps caused by secondary email addresses or external email addresses)

    My net experience was getting not-particularly-actionable errors like this:

    Because some of the information in the file you uploaded may have contained errors or conflicts, not all users were added to your Box account successfully.

    Of the 221 users in the file you uploaded, 221 users were not added due to possible errors in their information.

    I attempted to bulk-add ~250 users. This turned into a long run of whack-a-mole and required Box Product Support intervention because:

19. Relay Lite for multiple users

    Relay Lite has a limitation that would work only for a home user. Any business organization would have a primary and backup user monitoring work items, so the ability to list multiple people on the workflow notifications and having only one complete it is essential. We can list multiple recipients in other areas of your product, and should be able to do so in Relay-Lite, rather than being restricted to a single radio button choice.

20. Customized email subject for Box updates

    I make Outlook email rules to keep all my projects organized, however I have multiple projects in Box . Issue being Box Update emails have zero reference to project or main folder name, so if I make a rule for Box Updates all my box updates get lumped in to one Outlook email folder. If there is any way to customize the email notifications(either custom project name or main folder name), please let me know. That would be very helpful
