With the release of new Copilot PC by Microsoft and other partners that run on Arm processors it would be nice to be able to install Box Drive on Windows on Arm.

Box Drive: Support ARM processors
The new Microsoft Surface Pro X uses an ARM based processor and Box Drive doesn't support ARM processors. I'm sure use of the ARM processors will increase rapidly since it allows for much longer battery life and support cellular data connections.

We currently do not have this planned for Windows devices.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Box Drive (Windows) - Remember folder view settings
We’ve been using Box Drive since launch, and it’s been an incredible improvement in our workflow. Only a small issue has made it notably less useful in saving time, and is a known issue documented here (community.box.com/t5/Box-Drive-Known-Issues..)
Our file name and directory lengths are wider than the default for Box Drive/Windows. Normally Windows remembers preferences around column width, but in this case, as you know, Box Drive does not. This causes us to have to manually resize the “Name” field in every folder/directory, every time we access one. Therefore each user…

Box Drive Windows Drive Letter
We work with Box Drive more than using the Box Web App.
It would be useful to have a plugin that maps Box to a drive letter rather than going to the shared link for the web or for example "C:\Users[USERNAME]\Box[Account Folder][Another Account Folder]" Only having a path going directly to Box[Account Folder][Another Account Folder] by default would be a great thing to have.

Box Drive Integration with Windows Information Protection
Some users want to protect all or part of the folders on Box Drive with Windows Information Protection (WIP) as a corporate area, but Box Drive do not currently have direct integration.
So, they want to be able to cooperate Box Drive and WIP.5 votes -

Remove Box Drive path limit 260 characters in Windows
Support longer than 260 character paths in Windows for Box Drive as this not a limitation in Windows but a limitation in Box Drive
Due to Box user rights logic, we often have very long folder paths and file names. Our all workstations are Windows 10/11 workstations. Most of our users prefer the Box Drive solution over the Box.com web app.
This leads to a situation where often paths in Box Drive are longer than 260 characters.
Windows supports MAX_PATH which lifts the 260 character restriction: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=registry
This instruction is referred in the Box instructions on this…

Syncing bookmarks and Windows shortcuts between Box Drive and online.
To better organize my personal Box files and share with teams, I've saved my files in the team folder and used a Windows shortcut (in Box Drive) in my personal Box folder to link files/folders elsewhere on Box. Box Drive doesn't sync Window's shortcuts so these links are lost when working online. The workaround online is to use the bookmark function, using file/folder URLs to create shortcuts. It would be great if bookmarks or window's shortcuts synced between online and Box Drive modes. At the moment I'm having to bookmark online and shortcut on Drive to link up…

Allow Box Drive Folders to be added to Windows Library
My company has a lot of folders on Box, but only a few are relevant to what I do. In order to facilitate quicker access to the folders I use I created a Windows Library (Windows 10) and attempted to add the Box Drive folders I use to the Windows Library. But my attempts to do this resulted in Windows displaying a message "This folder can't be included because it is on a removable device" even though the Box Folder is on my Computer's C Drive. This capability works fine with Box Sync, but not Box Drive…

Box Drive support for Tags (Windows)
We would like to be able to use tags in Box Drive in order to better sort/filter/search for specific information that is used company-wide (either the tags field in MS Office files or a Box-specific tag). I see several requests for this feature from Mac users, but not much reference for Windows users.
Thanks...

Make Box Tags visible in Box Drive (on Windows)
We have used Tags extensively to categorise content in Box, it would be great now that we have moved to Box Drive that these are visible against the folders displayed in here too.

Box Drive should preview files in windows explorer or Finder
There is a feature in Windows Explorer that allows you to enable a preview pane that previews the contents of files inside of the explorer window. This does not work on files that are in Box Drive even for files that have been opened before.
101 votesThis is a feature we would love to get to, but unfortunately it is not on our short term roadmap. Please continue adding your feedback!

Set Box Drive as a Default Save Location in Windows
With box Sync we could set Box locations as default save locations. Apparently that isn't currently available with Box Drive... this would be a great feature if possible!!

Smaller icons for Box Drive on windows
The "status" icons on folders/files in Box Drive cover up 80% of the thumbnail for the file (or folder itself). This happens when explorer is set to list or details view.
This makes scanning a folder with many documents for a particular file type extremely difficult, as there's not much visual distinction between excel, word, and ppt docs when they're all covered by one of the Box Drive syncing status icons. The PPT/Excel/Word logos are completely covered with just a vague hint of color peeking out.
It would be ideal to figure out some way to make these icons smaller,…

Add support for Integrated Windows Authentication for Box Drive login flow
Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) allows for the following login flow for the webapp:
- User logs into Windows
- User goes to Box and selects to use SSO to login
- When the user is redirected to their Identity Provider, the browser sends the user's OS credentials and the user does not need to enter credentials again
- User is logged into Box
This would provide a more seamless experience for users. In our computer labs, users would sign into Windows, click one button in the Box Drive login window, and have access to their Box content natively in the OS.

Improve navigation of Box Drive for Windows
This is a request to improve the navigation of Box Drive. In Windows Explorer, after a user opens a folder, he can go back to the next higher level folder using "backspace" on the keyboard or "Left Arrow ←", but at this time, the last selected folder is selected and displayed. If a user performs the same operation on Box Drive, the user will be taken to the screen of the folder scrolled below the selected folder, but not 100% of the time. This happens when the user opens the folder several times and returns by backspace repeatedly…

Box Drive & Box Shield
Currently Box Shield classifies copy & pasting within Box Drive as downloading which results in a false alarm notification. It would be great to be able to see the difference between moving files and actually downloading files from a Box report.
