1. Quota Notifications for End Users

   I would like a way to set up different thresholds where a user can be notified that they are getting close to exceeding their quota limit. Give me the option to allow notifications at 95% and 99% and then every time they have hit their quota limit when they are someone else adds files to something that they own. I would also like to see warnings added for collaborators when they add files to another person's shares that indicate that they have hit a quota limit for the owner of the folder and give them a warning that they need to work with the owner of the folder.

2. Force removal of local copy of item which has been sync'ed

   One of our common workflows on Dropbox was

   • Move large file to the (Dropbox, now Box) folder
   • Wait for (Dropbox, now Box) to upload that content to the cloud storage
   • Right-click on the file and select an option to force it to "Online Only" mode, which would remove the local copy, freeing up the disk space

   It seems that there is no way to do that last bit with Box Drive, and there absolutely should be. For many folks, the premise of cloud storage is "get this off my local disk", and waiting until some random cache times out days later isn't a good, viable, option.

   Right now the only option seems to be the very-kludgy "log completely out of Box" (which is a broadsword solution to a problem that deserves a scalpel).

   One of our common workflows on Dropbox was

3. Add a BOX datastore to allow native search on Windows

   Box can only be searched with the box search window, ctrl+shift+alt+b which is a workflow downgrade because it is not possible to search in a file browser and also it is much slower.

   The solution is to provide Windows with a BOX data store and send notification to the indexer when files are synced or changed, then search service will take care of everything for you and we win!
   The benefit of this method is that you have full control over what you feed the indexer so there is no security risk. For example you can let only filenames for viewer permissions, filename + content for edit permissions.

   The extra benefit of such solution is that you can deprecate the search code, less code to maintain = happier coder = more time for things that make the customer happy.

4. Enhance Metadata Input Fields in Box Forms (Multi-line Support & Character Limit)

   [Background and Problem]
   A customer is looking to migrate their FAQ management system from Microsoft Lists to Box. Their plan is to store the FAQ answers as metadata. However, we have received feedback that this is impractical because the metadata input field in Box Forms is restricted to a single line, making it difficult to enter long answers.

   Below are our feature improvement requests.

   1. Multi-line Input Support
      We request the ability to either adjust the height of the text input field for metadata, or to select the same format as the "Long Text" field for metadata fields.

   2. Increased Character Limit (Optional)
      We also have a comment from the customer regarding the character limit for the metadata field in Forms:
      "While 400 characters for Japanese is sufficient for basic needs, it would be even better if it were expanded to around 1,000 characters to allow for more detailed information and broaden its use."

5. Ability to order files by file names

   I'd like to fix the order by ''file name''
   but even I correct it once, the order gets back by ''updated date'' again.

6. Ability to Disable or Choose email Notification when Inviting Collaborators

   We would like to have the option to email or not email a collaborator when sharing a content in Box. Example use case is when cleaning up Box permissions (group vs individual) and the Admin needs to do that seamlessly without bombarding he whole organization with Box invites to files/folders hey already have access to. Specially required for Internal collaborators.
   Providing access permissions does not always require an invite given the way Box works, the internal user will simply see the content when they access their Box Drive or he portal.

8. "Recents" feature - Feedback

   There is a box notification above "Updates" page that states the following:
   "Box has decided to end of life (EOL) the Updates feature on August 31, 2022. As an alternative to Updates, please use Recents to access content you have recently interacted with."

   As "Recents" feature does not offer any information about other users' interaction in shared files and folders (comments, uploads, views, etc) and, additionally, the notification system does not work for most of these instances (comments without tagging, uploading, etc) or does not work well enough (many times there is no notification or it is well delayed), this EOL decision will render group working on box shared files literally unbearable...

   Please reconsider or at least make more options for notifications, such that there is no loss of functionality.

9. Auto-notify collaborators when a file is uploaded to a folder

   The folder owner should be able to create an email notification for all subscribers to the folder to receive a notification when a new file is uploaded to Box.

   The email would be sent to the user's email on file for that Box folder. The user would not have to update his/her own settings. The folder owner would set notifications, and the user would have to turn them off if too frequent.

   The scenario is that a shared Box folder with <10 users. The users are generally infrequent users of Box, so do not proactively check on the folder frequently. A push notification (email) that something is updated will help an Admin significantly to manage the project and ensure that everyone knows the new data was uploaded.

10. If a managed user triggers IP CAPTCHA, send an email notification to the enterprise's admin.

    If a user triggers CAPTCHA on an IP address, it could potentially impact many users if our account is NATing our IPs to one external IP.

    Typically this is caused by an end user saving a bad set of credentials into some kind of client (FTP or WebDAV) that is constantly trying to reconnect.

    This request makes sense, but this is not something that is planned for the foreseeable future.

    I will keep monitoring similar cases and prioritize once this becomes a high value request.

11. Add notifications to Box for EMM

    In the Box Web browser, I can confirm that the new mention is on the left side menu "notifications" with red ● when new notifications appear. We'd like to have those notifications within Box for EMM too.

12. Ability to turn off optional message field on shared link email and add collaborator dialogs

    Many customers in regulated industries do NOT like the fact that some email notifications from Box have the ability to enter an optional message that will be included as part of the notification. Because this email bypass the customer email gateway they don't have visibility into what that message is. This feature is a compliance issue and should have the ability to turn it off.

    The Box Compliance Email Archive is not sufficient for some customers and that is why one way to solve this would be disabling the feature.

13. @'ing box groups in comments

    Is there a way to @mention a box user group in the comments section? We have executive team groups of 4-7 people that need tagged in the comments for notifications to approve and discussed projects, but when you are @'ing all 7 it looks a little messy as well as remembering all of those users. Since the email addresses are linked in the box group, would it be possible to @mention that unique group name in the comment and get the same result as @'ing a single user name?

15. Allow users to know whether a file has been updated via Box Drive.

    Add notifications on file updates within Box Drive. If a file is currently updated, we need to view notifications in the web browser as Box Drive does not show this.

    This feature is not currently planned for our roadmap in FY24.

17. Box for Microsoft Office co-authoring permissions per folder

    I propose the ability to change the setting for each folder regarding whether or not Box co-authorship is enabled.
    With the current Box for office co-authoring feature, all folders have the coauthoring feature turned on.
    I would like to have a switch so that some folders are on and some are off.

18. Real time alert if user accesses Box from a new location/device

    Currently we get a Daily Login Activity report. This is a daily report and most important piece of information on it is report of new logins with information like user, device, time, and IP address..

    Unfortunately this is daily and can only be on or off.

    Requesting the ability to enable real time notification instead of the daily.
    As it relates to security, immediate notification is critical for unauthorized access.

19. Include a Disable Preview Option

    I've been using BOX for years and the only complaint is from my clients who download from my shared links. Almost 90% of users complain that they get the message
    "We're sorry, this file type is not currently supported."

    I understand from your viewpoint but from our viewpoint, we dont require such preview because our files are .zip, .rar, .7z, etc.

    So PLEASE enable some option where I can enable or disable the auto-preview.
    Remember, you guys are a cloud storage 1st solution. My clients should be able to download anything as simply as possible without getting confused about some auto preview not available or not supported.

20. Mass enable notifications under Account Settings --> Sharing - General Email and Notification

    We want to encourage people to rely on messages in Box as well as via email if more appropriate. Currently, the default is that the email notifications are turned off. We would like to be able to choose to default ON with individuals deselecting if they prefer.
