1. Box for Outlook - Allow Configurable Setting that will autocovert an attachment to a link when over a certain size

   Sharefile's Outlook add-in allowed for you to define a size threshold for attachments. When that threshold was reached, it would automatically upload the attachments to Sharefile and then insert the link to the file(s)

   This feature made it simple to share larger documents, or multiple documents that would cause bounce-back emails for trying to send an email with too large of size. This was also much quicker than taking the time to create a new folder, upload the documents, then attach the links for those documents to the email.

   I understand that this would require some other types of decisions to be made, such as where does the file get uploaded to? Perhaps there is an autogenerated folder for each user account that it sticks the files in, similar to Box Reports, Box Shuttle Reports, My Box Notes, My Canvases, etc.

2. Hubs permission model should be more granular

   Currently in the Box Hubs Beta, all collaborators invited into a Hub receive the "Viewer" permission on files and folders linked in the Hub. This does not allow for Hub content to be view-only and block downloading of content. Alternative methods of managing this such as rolling out classification policies would not be scalable as Hubs usage grows. It would be great if Hubs collaboration could be more granular and there was an ability to invite users or groups into a Hub with other permissions such as "Previewer" so they are more restricted on what they can do after accessing content.

3. Convert Box Drive File to Box Link when Emailing Copy of File

   We use Box to store company documents, and most people prefer to work with the Box files natively on Windows via Box Drive. The issue is when someone wants to circulate a copy of a file stored on box. The standard practice is to drag a copy of the document from Windows Explorer to an Outlook email. This results in a copy of the document, so future collaborators are not editing the Box document, but rather a copy.

   This is a common feature in most established DMS products, where the user is asked if they want to upload the actual file or instead, a link to the file so that when the recipient opens the attachment, they are directed to the file on the server, not the copy of the document in the email.

   Current Limitation:
   - Existing shared link and external collaborator settings apply a uniform 30-day restriction across all external users
   - No ability to create differentiated access rules for trusted partners or affiliated organizations

   Proposed Feature:
   Implement a multi-tier external collaboration access control system that allows:
   1. Configurable access duration and permissions based on organizational relationship
   2. Ability to create exception groups with extended or permanent access
   3. Granular control to distinguish between:
   - Completely external users (standard 30-day restriction)
   - Trusted partners/affiliated organizations (customizable access duration)
   - Specific trusted domains with distinct access rules

   Use Case Example:
   An organization wants to:

5. Request new report by file extension

   While you can check rough file types from the storage in admin insights, there are many situations in operations where you need to understand capacity and file counts at the extension level. I would like to request a report that can show file sizes by extension. I also want it to support filtering by owner.

6. Requesting addition of embedded images

   I would like to embed photos in the body text of a paragraph on Box Hubs. I know you can link to an image on box.com in Box Hubs, but when I am making a how-to document I need to put multiple small images inside of a body of text. Linking to an image uploaded to box makes huge 1x1 preview squares.

8. Change default sidebar view

   Since BoxAI was released, when previewing a document from the Box Web the sidebar defaults to BoxAI. I would like the ability in my settings to pick what sidebar page presents as default. Further, it would be great to pick if the document preview opens with the sidebar opened or collapsed.

9. I would like the display position of the "Hide this folder" menu on BoxDrive to be changed.

   The "Hide this folder" feature has been made possible on BoxDrive, but cases of accidental folder hiding due to misoperation have been occurring. We believe one of the reasons is that it is located among frequently used menus like "Share" and "Update folder."

   We hope for an improvement in changing the display position of the "Hide this folder" menu. Alternatively, it would be great if we could have a setting option to disable the "Hide this folder" menu altogether.

10. Request for improvement of the event where the cell date is different when previewing an Excel file

    In Excel, if you enter a date in a cell with a custom format, a different date will be displayed when viewed with previewer permissions.
    For example, if you enter "2026/1/1", if you check it with the previewer permission, it will be displayed as "2026/10/12".

    “Date values with the custom format "yyyy/m/d (aaa)" may show incorrect dates. This is due to a bug in the library that Box Content Preview has a dependency on. The workaround is to use a different format such as "yyyy/m/d (ddd)" or "yyyy/m/d".”

    Editor and viewer permissions are displayed as they were entered, but previewer permissions are not the date entered.
    It seems to be caused by a bug in the library that Box Content Preview depends on, but there is no way to check the correct date because the previewer permission does not allow downloading the file.
    Therefore, we strongly request improvements.

11. clear notifications

    We need a notifications dashboard, similar to the task dashboard, where we can select all and mark complete. PLEASE!!! I have a ton of notifications that I've addressed but are still showing up in my "notifications" alert. I don't have time to go through them one-by-one to close them out. Please address issue ASAP.

12. Add Support for Surrogate Pair Characters (e.g. Emojis, Supplementary Kanji)

    Currently, Box has limitations in handling surrogate pair characters (such as certain emojis or supplementary Kanji) in file names and metadata.
    Other major services like Microsoft 365 already support these characters, and we would like to request similar support in Box.
    Enabling surrogate character support would significantly improve internationalization and user experience for customers working with multilingual or symbol-rich content.

13. Remove Filter option for Box Apps View

    We have a use case where we want to restrict a view so that users can only see verified items in a view from a Box App. No matter how the App is shared, users are always able to change the underlying filters and see items that are not verified. It would be great if there was a setting in the view that turns off the ability for viewers to change the filters and only restrict to the visible filters. Image shows the filters we want them to be able to edit, the "All filters" is no required.

14. Ability to change delete and transfer folder description

    Currently, after a user is deleted and their content is transferred, the folder their content is transferred to has a Folder Description that reads: "This folder contains files previously owned by <user>, and were transferred to you by your enterprise administrator. If you have any questions, please contact <Name and Email Address of Enterprise Admin>."

    Since many large customers don't have a single user monitoring the enterprise Admin email, it would make more sense for them to be able to edit this description to include their internal support helpdesk email alias instead of the primary admin

15. Increase Multi-Document Querying Limitations from 10

    The current system limits the number of documents that can be reviewed in a single session, which has led some public sector users to process eligibility documents in multiple smaller batches. In practice, screenings often involve significantly more documents (70 in some cases) than the system currently supports in one batch (10 max), resulting in added workload and inefficiency.

16. Automatic Approval Removal When Deleting Apps

    Since the maximum number of app approvals is limited to 100, periodic deletion of apps is required. However, at present we must request Box to perform these deletions.

    We’d like both JWT and OAuth authentication to automatically revoke authorization when an app is deleted in the developer console.

    If the service account owns any content, we would like a dialog similar to the one shown when deleting a user, allowing us to choose whether to move or delete the content.

17. Deleted Shared Link Lookup Tool

    In the same manner as below, we'd like the capability to search for disabled shared links as well. Currently, there's no way to locate files if the shared links have expired or become inactive.

    There is some content that we do not want to completely erase, but we would like to change the owner due to capacity issues.
    Therefore, we would like to change the owner of the files in the Recycle Bin.

19. Ability to Select the AI Processing Region

    We would like to request the ability to select the region where AI processing is performed.
    Some customers in Japan — especially in regulated industries — require that AI processing be executed within the Japan region as a prerequisite for using AI features.

    To drive broader AI adoption among financial institutions and other highly regulated customers, this capability is essential.
