  1. Support for UNC paths in Box For Desktop

We require UNC paths instead of local paths to be supported by Box Drive. Today - we're leveraging WebDAV, which is less than ideal.

  2. Box Apps in SalesForce

Requirement for Box Apps in the Salesforce embed experience. Use case: Bankers interact with Box via Salesforce & Drive; with a working use case of legal document management, we would require bankers to view apps dashboards via salesforce

  3. Ability to toggle file sync on Box Drive when using Cellular Data

Box Drive enhancement for users who rely on cellular data to power their internet connection management of the file transfers, whether that be downloading/checking for content MFO, or even synching new files

  4. Ability that restrict to create a file/folder on the root folder and move/copy to the root folder on Box Drive

.Ability that restrict to create a file/folder on the root folder and move/copy to the root folder on Box Drive if their enterprise set "Restrict content creation"

Currently, we can perform operation create/move/copy in the root folder on Box Drive even though our enterprise set "Restrict content creation".
Of course, the files/folders are marked as problem items, but if we move to the folder directly under the root folder, it looks like they have been moved to the folder, so logging off from Box Drive or replacing with new device due to hardware issue may lead to lose some contents.

  6. improve box drive file listing when navigating to a new folder

Currently as you navigate Box Drive and hit a new folder there can be a noticeable delay before the content listing of the folder is displayed and for that time (can be several seconds or more) the impression is left that the directory is empty. The user is left trying to determine if they need to wait or if there are actually no files or folders within the folder.

An improvement would to either maintain a local cache of the folder/file hierarchy and then download the actual file when it's selected for open. Or a predictive recursive tree query when…

  7. We request to change Box Drive feature as to also add (1) on the tail

The current feature of duplicated file name on Box Drive is to add email address on the end of file name and on Box Edit, a number with parenthesis- (1),(2) will be added.

  8. Auto-open files when downloaded from Outlook to Box Drive

Currently when one downloads files from Outlook to box drive on one's laptop/desktop, one has to then go to that folder using file explorer (often several clicks or using the quick access menu) to open the file and then editing it. It would be very useful to have an auto open feature once the file is downloaded. Similar features are already available while using say Gmail on the web browser or even downloading a file from WhatsApp's desktop app.

We are currently not planning to implement this feature and will continue to prevent all Box Drive results from appearing in Explorer/Finder searches.

Box Drive does not download the all of the metadata (File name, folder structure, etc.) of your Box content. Instead, it is downloaded on demand and then evicted when it is no longer relevant. This eviction process is not visible to users and it is not easily predictable. This would cause the search results in Explorer/Finder to be inconsistent for users – sometimes they would find a file and other times they may not if the metadata and file were evicted.

We have chosen not to download all of the metadata (and then keep it up to date with changes) as this can result in a large performance, storage and bandwidth tax which is not scalable – especially in environments where users interface with millions of files/folders.

  10. Improve the searching capabilities within the Box webapp and Box Drive

-Display the number of search results hits
-Save search results (query and results)
-Run search again and show differences since the last search (this is helpful to see what's been added or removed since the last time the search was run)
    Include all filte

Thank you for the suggestion. We currently do not have this planned on our roadmap.

Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

  12. Provide admin visibility into managed user's Box Drive instance and their problems/notifications

  13. Actions to make documents and folders (box drive, 'Make Available Offline' ) appear in reports as Downloads - same as normal downloads

When identifying anomolous downloads (ie potential data leakage), we utilise both Box Shield alerts and User Activity reports to establish details.

However, User Activity reports (csv, column E 'Action') do not differentiate between those documents and folders downloaded, and those that are 'Made Available Offline'. When attempting to avoid data leakage, the difference is important. Making content available offline is a legitimate task for users. However, large quantities of normal downloads may indicate fraudulent theft of data.

We need to be able to differentiate between the two types, as soon as possible

Because User Activity Reports record items as 'Download'…

  14. I would like to be able to see which user account is currently logged in on the PC using Box Drive.

I would like to be able to check the currently logged-in user account on the PC where I am using Box Drive.
Please make it possible for users to check this information themselves.

I want the administrator to be able to check which user account is using which PC.

This is necessary for proper user account management, so please consider this.

  15. Allow Admin Deployment of Box Drive for Upgrades over Network

We use a deployment software and are able to use it successfully for all upgrades except Box Drive. This is due to the fact that there is a prompt for confirmation that the upgrade will cause loss connection and in a ticket was told there was no way to force it to continue.

What I'd like to see is a way for either through a deployment software, GPO, or PowerShell, be able to force upgrades at start-up. This would ensure that users are not yet accessing files that could be messed up.

  16. Support for MacOS Smart Folders with Box Drive

We need a better mechanism to identify files that have been updated within a given time period at a user level.

Currently, we rely upon email notifications, but Box email notifications are currently getting filtered on our network. The Smart Folders ability would address this problem.

  17. box sync

The company I work for would love to keep the box sync app running for our computers as it is a real convince to only sync the files the designers are working on at the moment and allows us to control what to work on and not have to search through the whole box drive to find the one file every time to work on.

  18. Alert on folder names not allowed in Box web

Box Drive will alert when a folder name isn't valid. Would be nice that there would be a way to not allow folder names in Box web when Box Drive doesn't support it.

  19. Box Hubs: Allow search functionality within Box Hubs for users without Box accounts

Current functionality: If a user without a Box account access a Box Hub through a shared link, they do not see the search bar

Desired functionality: A user without a Box account accessing a Box Hub will still be able to use the search bar

Use Case: Using Box as a marketing DAM housing photos. A hub could be used to provide access to approved photos so that non-Box users can search for approved photos they need.
