  1. Log configuration

The logging/ caching mechanism could be quite a burden for users who have a relatively small C drive. Users with desktop tools which could generate a high amount of file versions, Drive's log (specially Engine log) would grow extremely fast and might even dry up C drive.

It would be good if there are more options available to suppress/ log rotate/ or even stored Drive's log on a separate disk pre-defined by users.

  2. Identify which files and folders a user owns within a shared Teams folder, that are not shared or collaborated with others

We encountered a situation where certain files inside a shared drive were only visible to one user, while others couldn’t access them. This caused confusion because the files appeared to be part of the shared structure but were effectively private. A feature that highlights or filters these user-owned, non-shared items would help prevent misunderstandings and improve transparency.

  4. Product Support - I need phone support and remote desktop control.

I have a small business with 6 employees and we all share using box drive. I have spent about 3-5 hours over the past 2 weeks in the "chat" and email support world trying to solve a problem. I need phone support. and I need box to remotely control my desktop to solve problems. I do not have an IT department.

  5. Improve Box notes sharing and Home page

Box @ IBM is easily my most used and least liked product at work. The link sharing is a horrible experience. Everyone in the company disses Box's link protection. Enabling Link Expiration by default on the shared links is the worst idea and the product manager that approved this feature should dogfood features before subjecting customers to its horrid UX. I can't easily drag drop files like in Google Drive, the home page I land is useful in 0.01% of the cases. Usually I easily spend upwards of 5 minutes just looking for files. I have taken to adding all…

  6. Install Box Sync on PC using existing Box Sync folder

You have a published workaround here:

    https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043691074-Box-Sync-Displays-Message-Select-Another-Folder-Location-

This only describes how to download the Box Sync data all over again. I do not have high-speed internet, so this would take weeks to do.

All I did was change out my storage drive. All of the Box Sync data was copied exactly, so all 50GB of data is still there. I just need to have it see that the files in the current folder are the same (you can use the filename, location, and file size). Syncing the file's timestamp with my PC would be a nice feature, as my PC…

  7. Notification function when a conflict occurs when editing a file

Files are locked when edited from Box Drive by users who have co-authoring enabled.
However, it takes time for the lock to take effect, which can lead to file conflicts if another user edits the file first.

BoxDrive and BoxEdit normally notify you when a file conflict occurs, but unfortunately users who have enabled the collaborative editing feature do not receive the notification that a conflict has occurred.

If you want to co-edit with a user whose co-editing function is disabled, you can co-edit with Office Online if you are editing Excel or Word, but the file you want to…

  9. Problem with workbook link in Excel

we have a problem with some excel files with embedded workbook links pointing to a BOX folder.
Today, after enabling BOX for Microsoft Office (desktop) some of these links changed from:

    C:\users\username\BOX\Boxdrivername\Boxfoldername

    To

    api.box.com\userName\BOX\Boxdrivername\Boxfoldername

thus giving a file not found error when we reopen the "master" excel file.

How can we solve this problem?

Below is the procedure for reproducing the error.
    Starting Configuration:
    BOX drive installed: YES
Enabled Box for Microsoft Office Coauthoring: NO
In this example, the original file (test.xlsx) contains a link to a second file (linkedworkbook.xlsx) . As you can see the path is C:\users\svacchini\BOX\CIT.......

  11. Import data already on Box into DICOM viewer

The only way to import images into the DICOM viewer right now is to upload directly using the import tool. This is problematic for two reasons: 1. large sets of data are handled better through Drive or Sync than a web interface and 2. data already in Box need to be downloaded and then imported (uploaded) again using the import tool, which is not practical when working with 10s-100s of GB of DICOM data. There should be a mechanism to import data already stored on Box into the DICOM viewer.

This may be similar to a different issue: https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778-help-shape-the-future-of-box/suggestions/36114310-direct-dicom-upload-endpoint-desired

  12. Upgraded my laptop, lost hundreds of files, Box support claiming files never properly synced

Hi Box, I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed with your product. Your customer support team said I need to post the feedback here. I have been using Box Drive for the past four years and was using it to keep track of sensitive and important records and information related to my employer's financial statement audits. This included hundreds of workpapers and workbooks used to gather and compile information to send to our auditors for the company to pass our annual audit. I could view the files in Box Drive and in the online web browser, indicating that they had properly…

  13. Show file paths on "Error updating *** items..."

If BoxDrive has some errors, it shows error on "Error updating *** items..." by clicking the gear icon.
Then the error window says, "The original file was deleted on Box" on my environment.
But it doesn't show the paths, but also filenames.
So it would be very helpful if you could improve it to show the filenames and its path.

    Environment:
    macOS 13.6.7 (22G720)
    Box Drive 2.39.179

  14. Ability to "resync" or "rescan" your webapp to reflect folders in local folder

User deleted a folder via Box Drive with Viewer permissions (so it stayed on Box), and then never showed up again in local folder

  15. Fix slow and unstable sync behavior

We all use the Web app in my workplace to upload and edit MS Word files. Recently, sometimes uploaded files are not visible to a person on another terminal. They appear about 5 to 10 minutes late which is detrimental in our business which has strict broadcasting deadlines.

Yesterday my colleague uploaded her file several times but I could not see it in the folder at home. When it finally appeared it was Ver.11! But I had not seen any of the uploaded versions until that point.

Syncing also seems to be unstable in Box Drive. I completely gave it…

  16. disable public links globally with exceptions

We would like to disable public link sharing for all users, but enable a single folder public link sharing available where staff can put files that can be shared publicly. We don't want staff to accidentally share public links from other locations in Box, only from a single folder designated for public links. Otherwise, we need to move public link files to another provider, such as Google Drive.

  17. Device Trust documentation and error message should explicitly describe encryption requirements for external drives

The Device Trust message is misleading as it states “All internal disks must be encrypted” when it should state “All disks must be encrypted”. In addition, the language under Setting-Up-Device-Trust-Security-Requirements here https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044194993 states "Require all disks to be encrypted: Helps protect against data loss by requiring disk encryption software" but it only describes in detail internal disk encryption. It would be helpful if it stated here that all external disks must also be encrpyted.

  18. Enable Bulk Edit of Admin Settings for Box Sync

My company is fully transitioning away from Box Sync and over to Box Drive. You can disable Box Sync from being used, but you can't perform a bulk edit on each person's account to uncheck Box Sync. Unless this is done, 'Synced' will still appear on the left hand side of a user's account. This will be a very time consuming administrative change when you have to manually uncheck this setting for hundreds, if not thousands of users.

  19. Force removal of local copy of item which has been sync'ed

One of our common workflows on Dropbox was

    • Move large file to the (Dropbox, now Box) folder
    • Wait for (Dropbox, now Box) to upload that content to the cloud storage
    • Right-click on the file and select an option to force it to "Online Only" mode, which would remove the local copy, freeing up the disk space

It seems that there is no way to do that last bit with Box Drive, and there absolutely should be. For many folks, the premise of cloud storage is "get this off my local disk", and waiting until some random cache times out days…

  20. Syncing files and having them download to devices automatically

Create a setting in Box Drive so that files, once updated, automatically sync and download to all devices for use offline. Now, we have to designate each folder for "use offline." Why not have a setting that allows us to make that the default (so it functions like Box Sync)? As it now stands, I'd have to know in advance which files I might use on a flight, if I'm traveling with a different computer. That's a pain.
