Allow naming files before uploading on box mobile
My company previously used Box Capture to record videos of our packed product before going out the door to customers. This helped identify skids if lost by the carrier, as well as identify products reported missing by customers. This worked really well for us for many years.
However, Box Capture is no longer supported and "all of the functionality" was supposed to be available with Box Mobile. However, there is one issue that we immediately discovered is different and is costing us extra time. With Box Mobile, you have to upload the video to Box, then go back into…

Upload, copy and paste .DES files.
I can't paste in my Box Drive folder .des files that come from a software I use. I can upload them manually to the cloud in the web app, but those files won't sync either. This never happened with other cloud service software and I can't work without those files and the program won't run.
Please accept .des files so I can use Box for my work.2 votes -
Add # of files to Box Hubs Report
Box Hubs fails if there are over 10,000 files linked to in the hub. It would be helpful to have a report that could report the total number of files available in a hub to help ensure we stay below this limit and/or if we exceed this limit, we can move content to a different hub and judge the impact of moving specific folders to better balance the load.

External references between Excel files saved in Box by URL.
In Excel saved in SharePoint, the URL can be used to refer to the value of a cell in the other Excel file.
We would like a similar functionality in Box.
For example, if the file ID is "1234567890" and we want to refer to cell A1 of "sheet1", do the following.
ex) ='https://****.ent.box.com/file/1234567890[sheet1]'!A149 votesThis feature is currently available for customers on Microsoft's Current Channel and Monthly Enterprise Channel. Box Note Table Functions
We want to be able to use equations/functions in Box Notes Tables similar to Excel or Google Sheets functionality. For example, typing AVERAGE = (B2:B4) into cell B5 would find the average of cells B2 through B4.
This would be a very helpful update.

Automatically Lock & Unlock when editing from Web App using Box Edit
CURRENT UX: User must remember to manually lock and unlock each file once done editing, which is a subpar experience for the user.
DESIRED UX: When using 'open with' via the webapp (Box Edit), the file is auto-locked (via a prompt), and when the user closes out of the file, it is automatically unlocked.
202 votesWe understand the request, but unfortunately this is not on the near-term roadmap. We are currently prioritizing automatically locking/unlocking files on Box Drive for Office files on Windows. We will revisit this feature in the future.

Enhance error messages when storage exceeded to identify which account is over storage
When a user uploads an item to a folder that would exceed the quota, it says "Account storage limit reached." This is misleading if the folder is owned by another user. Users ask for more quota, but it's a different account that has the problem. Please identify the folder owner of the folder that's over quota in the error message.
This applies both to Web UI and Box Drive error messages.

Box for Office and co-authoring
Co-authoring and Box for Office each create "places" in Office applications, which is confusing to the end user. Per Box Support, files opened via the Box For Office integration cannot be co-authored.
The Box for Office integration includes Office ribbon icons, more intuitive file open/save workflows, and has been part of the Box integration environment for years. Consider either improving the UI of the "Place" created by the co-authoring integration or allowing co-authoring on content opened via the Box for Office integration.

Matching display with Box Notes shared link settings
If the Admin Console [Shared Link Permissions] is set to type "File: Can view and download" and type "Box Notes: Can view and edit",
Depending on where you create a Box Notes shared link, the settings and permissions displayed do not match. This is the current specification.Created a shared link from a file list: The permission "View only" is displayed because the type is "File", but it can be edited.
Creating a shared link from the Box Notes share button: The "Can edit" permission is displayed to refer to the type "Box Notes".We feel that this specification…

Drive: More granular controls when designating a file as Marked for Offline
I tried to select particular folders to sync, but found that other folders that I had not selected were then trying to sync. I tried to stop them syncing, to find that then stopped the folders I was trying to sync. After going backwards and forwards a few times, Box Drive crashes.
I just want this feature to work as it should, syncing just the folders I want and leaving the rest as online access only.
What is happening is that when you click on a folder to select it and then mark it for offline, it is fine.
The…

Supporting Text Format in Box for Outlook
Currently, Box for Outlook is only available in HTML format, which is the only format supported by Outlook and OWA.
Some companies make only plain text available.
In this case, Box for Outlook cannot be used, so please make sure that the text format is also available. For companies that only use OWA, Box for Outlook is a great way to share data on Box.
This is expected to improve work efficiency.(日本語)

The "save as" option in Office support pdf extension but this is not included in the "save to box" option. If a user wantss to upload a pdf (originated from office) there are a couple more steps they have to do.

Google-Box Integration: Allow "Add to Box" for files over 25GB sent via email
My team uses Box for Gmail and enjoys the functionality. However, when they’re receiving an incoming email with a file attached over 25GB, Google converts this file into a link instead of keeping it an attachment. When they click the Box integration to save it to Box, they can’t, because it’s a link and won’t show up as an option to upload into Box. Is this something the Box team can fix/work around?
5 votesGlad you are enjoying the Box for Gmail integration! Unfortunately, the 25GB behavior is a limitation on the Google side, meaning Box cannot do anything to fix this. Please reach out to your Google account team to get it prioritized on their roadmap.

Export transparent images using Box Canvas
When exporting Box Canvas as an image, I want to be able to make the background transparent.
Currently, when exporting Box Canvas as an image, the background appears white. Since there are cases where it's more convenient to have no background color when pasting into another medium, I would like the option to export only the elements drawn on the Box Canvas as an image, with the background set to transparent.

Improve Box notes sharing and Home page
Box @ IBM is easily my most used and least liked product at work. The link sharing is a horrible experience. Everyone in the company disses Box's link protection. Enabling Link Expiration by default on the shared links is the worst idea and the product manager that approved this feature should dogfood features before subjecting customers to its horrid UX. I can't easily drag drop files like in Google Drive, the home page I land is useful in 0.01% of the cases. Usually I easily spend upwards of 5 minutes just looking for files. I have taken to…

Checking last accessed date and user on folders
Adding a feature where you are able to see the last time a certain folder was accessed along with the name of the person who accessed it. Similar to how it's done with google drive. This will help companies strengthen their security over data shared on Box Drive as this will allow them to keep track of who's accessing the files/folders. Especially when it comes to collaborators and shared links, you will be able to keep track of who has accessed these folders and when.
