Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP
Customers using security products Hibun DLP (https://www.hitachi-solutions.com/hibun/sp/) may see unexpected behavior with Box Drive. And Hibun doesn't have an exclusion mechanism. Therefore Box Drive should be compatible with Hibun DLP

Enhanced File/Folder Deletion in Box Drive
Proposal: Allow users to delete shared files and folders directly through Box Drive (File Explorer) and ensure that this action also removes collaborators' access.
Current Limitation: At present, users must delete shared files and folders via the web interface on box.com. This is because Box Drive mirrors the contents of the box.com web app account, and deletions made in Box Drive do not remove collaborator access.
Benefits of Implementation:
Improved User Experience: Streamlining the deletion process will make it more convenient for users, eliminating the need to switch between Box Drive and the web interface.
Enhanced Security: Ensuring that collaborator…

Updating versions from Box Drive seems to be critically broken
Saving over files in box drive used to update cloud with a version, it seems this is being ignored, and cannot be trusted when checking if this update is committed to the cloud. Things have gone seriously wrong with Box Drive integration every since macOS Ventura upgrade.

Drag and drop web URLs to Box Drive folder in Windows File Explorer
Posting a request to add functionality to Box Drive that will allow drag and drop URLS from web browsers directly to Box Drive folder in windows file explorer.
Currently, it's possible to store web URLs in Drive if you save them to your desktop first. We would like the ability to skip this step and save URLs directly from Chrome for example to Box Drive.

Show same timestamp web vs. Box drive
To migrate from file share to use box, we initially uploaded the content from our file server via FTP. We managed to se the original timestamp of last file modification. So we get shown this timestamp at client side using box drive. But the web app shows the timestamp of uploading the file. Please make it show the same timestamp as BOX drive!

Dynamic installation of Box Drive
I was tasked with making the Box Drive installer available for deployment via the Jamf Casper Suite on macOS. Software deployment policies from Casper run as the Unix root user - not the logged in human user - so any user folder modifications during the package install will be made to the root user's home folder. On macOS, the root home folder is located outside of /Users, hidden away at /private/var/root. However, after the Casper deployment policy runs, a new root folder is found in the Users folder where it doesn't belong. That root folder doesn't belong there and could…

Sync Box to an external hard drive
This should go without saying, but internal hard disks are far too small for cloud storage to sync, especially when using the cloud storage for large files such as video editing. We have several Terabytes of data on ours that we access all the time, as a group of editors. It's an absolute dealbreaker that we're forced to use the default location of the local drive to sync files using Box Desktop, and we would like the option of choosing an external hard drive or even a secondary internal drive to sync to. Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, and Google Drive all…

Box Drive Security - Utilize MFA/ Enforce connection to specific network
For several reasons having our staff use Box Drive to access their files is the most helpful for our office. However it would be great if some additional security features could be added to Drive such as requiring the user be connected to specific network or utilize an MFA process. We currently have a vpn requirement setup to access the Box web app through our Okta service but this doesnt work as well with Drive since it caches the user credentials.

Box Drive client should fall back to attempt direct connection if proxy fails
In short, if Box Drive sees a proxy and attempts to connect via the proxy but that fails, it should fall back and attempt a direct connection before failing completely.
I experienced this on Windows. Not sure if it would apply to other OSes or not.
The specific details...
I'm in a Corporate environment with a laptop. When our laptops are on the corporate network, we do go through a proxy. But when off of the corporate network, like working at home, it doesn't use the proxy. We use an auto-config proxy .pac file to control the proxy on and…

Box Drive Moving a Folder Off of Drive Fully Deletes it From Box for Mac FPE Users, Folder Lock API Enhancements
For PC Users on Drive (and historically for Mac users), when you move a folder from Box Drive onto your Desktop, it simply makes a copy of that folder and leaves the original in Box.
However, for Mac Users on the new FPE version of Box Drive, if they move a folder from Drive onto the Desktop, it fully deletes the folder from Box.
For example, I am an Editor on a Marketing Folder that's owned by the IT Service Account and shared with hundreds of colleagues. I accidentally move this folder from Box Drive onto my desktop (easy mistake…5 votes -
prevent file download to local drive for editor
We would like to have the ability to prevent a user with editor access from being able to download the shared folder content.
According to https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/13404788095507-Restrict-download-access, it seems not possible. Our goals are:
- Allow them to create files/folder, and to edit them from within the Box drive.
- Prevent them from downloading the files into their local drive and take it with them.As a security measure of data loss prevention.

Display of confirmation message screen to prevent accidental operation of Box Drive
When using Box Drive, it is common for users to accidentally delete, move, or copy files.
When manipulating large numbers of files, this failure can lead to serious information leaks and other problems.
Therefore, it would be helpful to improve functionality such as displaying a confirmation message when deleting, moving, or copying files to better prevent accidental operations.7 votes -
Push information on AD information in Box Drive for first time login (e.g. tenant name)
To allow for configuration that allows Box Drive to understand that the first authentication should be against the client's SSO provider, rather than prompting the user to enter their email address. Some options that were mentioned were to allow Box Drive to read a value containing the user's email address, or to configure Box Drive to launch a customer specific authentication page.

Add support for Integrated Windows Authentication for Box Drive login flow
Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) allows for the following login flow for the webapp:
- User logs into Windows
- User goes to Box and selects to use SSO to login
- When the user is redirected to their Identity Provider, the browser sends the user's OS credentials and the user does not need to enter credentials again
- User is logged into Box
This would provide a more seamless experience for users. In our computer labs, users would sign into Windows, click one button in the Box Drive login window, and have access to their Box content natively in the OS.

Allow the use of Linux devices as approved devices.
We had Linux based user using Box web console and as of the July update, they are no longer able to access Box. I would like to see Linx OS be added to the approved Operating Systems list in the Admin Console for enterprise settings.

Request to improve the behavior of files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set on Box Drive
In Shield > Access Policy, we are creating a classification label for the policy that has "Restrict downloading and printing" set as the security control.
Depending on when you set this label classification, Box Drive may not have the limitations you expect.
I would like to see an improvement so that files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set cannot be opened or copied in Box Drive from the moment the settings are set.The specific steps and events are as follows.
1. Open the file before setting the classification label in Box Drive.
2. Edit, save and close the file.…4 votes -
Select folders from hard drive to sync with box
Rather than syncing to a separate Box folder on my desktop, I would an application that would make it able to flag folders and files that already exist on my hard drive. I would very much prefer to be able to open my Windows Explorer and right-click on a folder and make a selection that would automatically sync that folder from where it is in my hard drive to Box.
