1. Feature Request – Enable "Favorites" Feature on Box Drive

   The 'Favorites' feature in Box allows users to quickly access frequently used files and folders by marking them as favorites. However, adding folders to 'Favorites' is only available through the Box web app and is not supported on Box Drive, the desktop application.

2. Cannot use Microsoft explorer search function for Box Drive

   I cannot use the Microsoft explorer search function to select all the pictures stored offline in my box Drive directory under several sub directories using *.jpg function. I use Box to save a back up of my picture files. The only solution was to duplicate a separate directory with the sub directories of all the picture files in my hard drive and use *.jpg to select the pictures to play in the slide slow. This problem is NOT there for Drop Box or Mega directories where Microsoft explorer search function works fine. The native Box search function cannot be used for searching files in sub directories and to select files to play on slide show. Hope you will address this issue in future Box Drive versions. It used to work fine with Box Sync previously.

4. Box Drive IO performance abysmal

   The performance of box drive read/write operations is sometimes a bit slow (10%) and other times abysmal.
   Based on tests, scrubbing through timeline in an editing software like premiere pro is jittery whereas it is fast on onedrive which I believe does delayed sync and doesn't impact IO that much.
   When unzipping a file containing numerous files and folders however the performance is so bad that it's not doable, it's in the neighborhood of 40x slower so a throughput of 140 MB/s turns into 3MB/s

   recommended actions: optimize IO of the mount point, providing option to turn off on the fly encryption, adding option to delay the reaction of the syncing mechanism

5. Need Tags in Mac Finder to be Supported in Box Drive

   After installing Box Drive, you have to re-tag all of your folders in Finder. As if that is not annoying enough, the folders you tag (colored circles) don't show up when you click on the tags in the sidebar of Finder. Bottom line, Box Drive needs to support Tags in Mac OS' finder just like the Box Sync did.

   MacOS color tags are not synced by Box, as they are purely an OS feature. However, you can mark Box files locally with color tags, and they will be visible in the native macOS search.

6. Configuring the Default Box Drive Folder Location

   In the latest version of Box Drive and OS it is no longer possibly to change the file path to a shared folder. This is causing many linking issues for my team as we work within shared files. Would love for this to be reconsidered again and put it the next box update.

7. Specify box drive location and cache location

   Enable the option for users to specify Box Drive location.
   Changing it in the registry is way too advanced for most users and easily fixable with a build-in feature.
   Enable the ability to specify Cache location is also a must-have.
   Files flooding my C: drive is annoying to say the least, espacially when working with big files.

   Very often, I create a file through an app into Box Drive and I'd like to see it directly into my Recent files in Box drive, that would be helpful.

9. Box Drive - Prompt Users to Lock Files When Opening Files from Box Drive

   For Box Drive, it would be nice to have the option to lock files when you take them offline. For example, when a you choose "Make Available Offline", Box could prompt you with "Do you want to lock these offline files?" So, you remember to lock the files while you still have online access to the them.

10. Enforce Box Drive naming limitations in WebApp

    It would be great to be able to enforce Box Drive file naming conventions in the webapp. This would prevent users from naming files with unsupported characters or . at the end of the file name. This would limit the number of Box Drive errors.

11. Report on installed Box Drive versions by user

    Need a report admins can run that will show all users who have ever used Drive and what the last version of Drive they last used was. Ideally there is a Device ID or Device Name as well.

    Use Case - Often admins do not have a device management system which would be used to run this report. Without that system in place OR without all devices being managed under it, admins have no visibility into what software is installed on their unmanaged users machines. Box won't be able to tell them all users who have it installed (if it is installed but never used Box has no visibility) but we can tell them for any user who has been active, what the latest version of Drive they used was. This way - they are informed on their install base and know what users may be effected by EOLs, bugs, new features etc.

    Need a report admins can run that will show all users who have ever used Drive and what the last version of Drive they last used was. Ideally there is a Device ID or Device Name as well.

12. Comments / Tasks from Desktop (Box Drive)

    In order to currently leave a comment on a file we have to right click on it, click on view on Box drive, which opens chrome, loads the file, then click on the comment icon on the right and then leave our comment

    A quicker and much simpler way of doing this would be to bring in comments and tasks into the box drive app to save us all of those steps of having to do this through our browser. There are a couple ways of doing this

    1) Bring in notifications, tasks and a comment stream into the system tray app. We have that nice search feature now which is amazing so it shouldn't be too hard to add a new tab there for tasks/comments and notifications like we have on the website. Show us a number somewhere to inform how many outstanding tasks, new/unread comments, new file uploads and/or mentions there are that need our attention. From there we could read and reply straight from the system tray

    2) Have a small indicator or number on the file icon itself in windows file explorer that let's us know how many comments/tasks are on that file and if there are any new ones.. We could right click on the right, go to the box context menu into a comments/tasks section that would bring up the discussions on that file. From there, in a popup menu or perhaps it just triggers the same system tray window discussed in the above point, we could read, reply or complete our tasks

14. Box Drive - All files organization

    Box Drive does not currently allow for organization of your All Files folder.

    To reorganize or move folders on this screen, it actively moves the folders, which isn't always possible. Due to different staff members requiring access to only portions of each folder, we cannot bunch together certain folders that would otherwise belong together.

    For the all files screen, Box should implement a way to label and organize folders for your own personal box, that does not affect where the files are located and how they are shared. There is a way to do this with the collections list on the side bar, but it is small and challenging to look at, and would be more effective if it was a full screen option.

15. Extend 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance to Box Sign APIs to enable Part 11 Box Sign requests via Box Drive

    As of Box Drive v2.43, Box Drive now integrates with Box Sign. However, this integration does not support Part 11 compliant signatures. Since Part 11 compliance is enabled and enforced for all users in our organization, this presents a risk, as users could inadvertently bypass this requirement when using the integrated Box Sign feature via Box Drive.

    From Box Support "...when a user clicks on the "Send to Box Sign" option from Box Drive, Box Drive sends a "Signature Request" to Box Sign API. When the request is successfully processed, Box Sign API replies with “prepare_url” in response. We then open that url in the default browser. In further conversation with our Sign Engineers, they have let us know support for Part 11 is not compliant via the Box Sign APIs, as outlined in 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance Support. "

    Users have the ability today in Box Drive to ‘Manage Collaborators’ via the right click menu of a file. When selected, this will cross-launch to the manage collaborator page on the Box.com web application.

19. Box Drive Warning When File Path is too Long

    There is a known issue with Box Drive that if a file path is exceeds a character count limit, then the file cannot be opened on desktop, however it can be opened via Box on the web. The issue is, when a user has a file on their desktop, that has a current file path within the character count limits, then moves the file to Box Drive within Windows Explorer and the new path in box exceeds the character limits. As of now, the user can copy and paste into Box Drive and not realize that their new path will prevent them from opening the file on the desktop. The update and solution should be to warn the user that upon copying that if they paste the file it will exceed the character limits. Possibly even add that this will prevent opening the document on the desktop, but still can within the browser. This will give the user notice and the ability to cancel the request for good, or go back and change the name before they copy the file so it's within legal limits.
