1. Enhancing View Visibility with Text and Background Customization

   I received feedback from a customer regarding improving visibility within views.

   They specifically requested the following enhancements:

   ・Ability to adjust text size
   ・Ability to change text color
   ・Expanded background color palette, including darker color options

   These improvements would allow users to better tailor the interface to their preferences and working environments (e.g., long working hours or dark mode setups).

   In views with a high density of information, visibility directly impacts productivity, so we believe this would be a valuable enhancement.

2. Allow Box AI for Hubs to scope responses to the current Hub page or selected Hub pages

   We would like Box AI for Hubs to support scoping AI responses not only to the entire Hub, but also to the current Hub page or selected Hub pages/subpages.

   Box AI for Hubs is very useful because users can ask questions across the content in a Hub. However, when a Hub is organized into multiple pages by department, business process, project, topic, or chapter, users often want to ask questions only about the content on the page they are currently viewing.

   Example use cases:

   ・Ask questions only against the “Travel Policy” page in an internal policy Hub
   ・Summarize only the “Security Training” page in an onboarding Hub
   ・Extract action items only from the files listed on a “Meeting Notes” page in a project Hub
   ・Generate an FAQ only from the files listed on a specific department page in an employee portal Hub

   Although users can narrow the reference content by adding specific sources, it is not practical for end users to manually select each file or folder every time, especially when a Hub page already organizes the relevant files and folders for them. Since Hub pages and subpages are part of the Hub’s information architecture, it would be much more intuitive if that structure could also be used as the AI scope.

   Requested behavior:

   ・When launching Box AI for Hubs, users can choose a scope such as “This page only,” “Selected pages,” or “Entire Hub”
   ・The current Hub page can be used as the AI context, including files, folders, links, and text blocks placed on that page
   ・Users can select multiple Hub pages/subpages as the AI context
   ・Citations and source references are limited to the selected page scope
   ・Existing Box permissions, Hub permissions, Shield classifications, and AI access controls continue to be fully respected

   This would make Box AI for Hubs much more useful for large knowledge portals. It would help users get more accurate and relevant answers by narrowing the AI context to the part of the Hub they are actually working with.

   Box AI for Hubsにおいて、AIが参照する範囲をHub全体だけでなく、現在表示しているHubページ、または選択したHubページ/サブページ単位に絞り込めるようにしてほしいです。

   希望する挙動：

   ・Box AI for Hubs起動時に「このページのみ」「選択したページ」「Hub全体」などを選べる
   ・現在表示中のページに配置されたファイル、フォルダ、リンク、テキストブロックをAIの参照範囲にできる
   ・複数ページを選択して質問できる
   ・回答の引用元も、選択したページ配下のコンテンツに限定される

4. Make folder retention policies non-removable (or always visible) to Editors

   Today, Editors can remove the visible retention policy from a file or folder’s details panel, even though the underlying non-modifiable retention policy remains active in the background. This means that after an Editor removes the visible policy, there is no indication in the UI that retention still applies, which makes it appear as though the content is not under retention at all.

   This behavior causes confusion for end users and admins, and makes it harder to support clear records management and compliance because enforced retention is not transparently visible in the interface.

   Feature request
   Please provide one or more of the following options:
   -An option so Editors cannot remove the visible retention policy from files and folders (only Admins or users with Retention permissions can).
   -If Editors can “remove” it, the UI should still clearly indicate that the item is under an enterprise retention policy (for example, a non-removable badge, icon, or message in the details panel).
   -An admin-level configuration that controls whether retention policies are removable or always displayed when they apply.

   Implementing this would make retention behavior more transparent, reduce user confusion, and better support compliance needs.

5. Display the count of all workflows from "Relay" in the management console

   It is assumed that administrators will quantitatively understand the usage of Relay within their company and develop operational policies and improvement plans. To do this, it is necessary to check the quantitative indicator of how much Box Relay is being used across the entire tenant.
   By confirming the total number of workflows and understanding Relay usage, you can strengthen the promotion of business process automation within the company.

6. Export transparent images using Box Canvas

   When exporting Box Canvas as an image, I want to be able to make the background transparent.
   Currently, when exporting Box Canvas as an image, the background appears white. Since there are cases where it's more convenient to have no background color when pasting into another medium, I would like the option to export only the elements drawn on the Box Canvas as an image, with the background set to transparent.

7. Box Forms – Add internal-only / scoped access controls for Form links (security & compliance)

   Customers need the ability to restrict Box Form links to internal, authenticated users (and ideally specific users/groups), instead of only “anyone with the link.” Current behavior conflicts with stricter security postures and makes Forms hard to adopt for internal project and regulated use cases.

   Customer is using Box Relay + Box Forms as part of internal project workflows:

   Workflow trigger: Form submission (Relay)

   Outcome: e.g., DocGen or other internal automation

   They want to present Forms to internal project teams only and treat them as an internal front end to Box workflows.

   Today, the Form sharing model exposes a shared link that can be configured at admin level to allow “anyone with the link” or require a Box login, but there is no way to scope the Form link to:

   “People in your company” only, or

   A specific set of users / groups, similar to folder and file sharing.

8. Request to Make Service Accounts Created During Box Automate Use Easier to Identify

   When a workflow is created and saved in Box Automate, a service account is created (e.g., InternalPlatformUser1234567ABCDEFGHIJ@boxdevedition.com).
   However, at present, it is difficult to determine whether this account was created as part of using Box Automate, making it hard to distinguish it from a suspicious user that may have been created maliciously.
   Therefore, we would like the service account (e.g., InternalPlatformUser1234567ABCDEFGHIJ@boxdevedition.com) to be made more easily identifiable as an account created for the use of Box Automate.
   For example, after a workflow is created in Box Automate, we would like a pop-up to be displayed indicating that a service account for workflow execution (e.g., InternalPlatformUser1234567ABCDEFGHIJ@boxdevedition.com) has been created.

9. Allow Box AI Home Global Agent to take the same actions as Box MCP (i.e. feature/permission parity)

   Currently, Box MCP (with Claude/ChatGPT/etc) can create, rename, move folders and files in Box, and many other things. It would be good to be able to accomplish the same simply by instructing Box AI (via Box AI Home, or the Box AI Agent step in Box Automate).

10. Allow api.box.com in Box Connectors for HTTPS Request steps in Automate workflows

    Please allow the HTTPS Request step in Box Automate to make requests to the Box API (api.box.com).

    There are many things not currently supported natively by Box Automate steps which could be solved if the HTTPS Request step/outcome were allowed to consume the Box API.

    For example:
    - generate Box access tokens
    - get file EXIF data from Box representations API
    - lock files
    - create shared links
    - get number of files in a folder
    - get file path
    - create shared link passwords
    - applying metadata cascade policies
    - metadata extraction on a group of files (rather than just one file at a time)

    Please allow the HTTPS Request step in Box Automate to make requests to the Box API (api.box.com).

11. Automatic Box Canvas Creation Based on Instructions to Box AI

    Currently, Box Canvas provides templates, but users still need to create the content themselves each time, which can be burdensome.

    To further reduce user workload, I would like to request a feature that allows Box AI to automatically generate a Box Canvas output based on user instructions.

12. Enable a Group Membership Admin role, which allows add/remove members of a Box group, without enabling modifications to the group.

    Dear Box Product Owner,
    This request proposes a new "Group Membership Admin" role within Box Groups to improve access control management, particularly for folders containing sensitive information, and to streamline compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Problem:
    Currently, Box Groups are a valuable tool for managing entitlements to folders, especially those containing highly sensitive content. Integrating Box Groups with IAM tools like SailPoint enables efficient access provisioning, access reviews, and adherence to FFIEC and other regulatory standards. By managing access through groups, we can ensure that all collaborators on sensitive folders are added via controlled group memberships.

    However, the existing "Group Admin" role grants broad permissions that are not always necessary or desirable for folder owners who simply need to manage group membership. Folder owners require the ability to add and remove members from a group to grant/revoke access to the sensitive information within their folders. Granting folder owners full "Group Admin" rights exposes the group to unintended modifications, such as changes to the group's folder associations, which compromises the integrity of the group's defined access scope. Maintaining a clear and consistent understanding of which groups have access to which folders is crucial for effective access reviews and overall security governance.

    Proposed Solution:
    We propose introducing a new role, tentatively named "Group Membership Admin," with the following limited capabilities:
    • Add Members to a Group: This function would allow the designated user to add new members to a specific Box Group.
    • Remove Members from a Group: This function would allow the designated user to remove existing members from a specific Box Group.

    This new role would explicitly exclude the ability to:
    • Modify the group's name or description.
    • Associate the group with new folders.
    • Remove the group's association with existing folders.
    • Delete the group.
    • Change other group settings beyond membership.

    Benefits:
    • Enhanced Security and Compliance: By limiting the scope of permissions, the "Group Membership Admin" role minimizes the risk of unintended changes to group configurations and ensures that access controls remain aligned with security policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Improved Access Management: Folder owners can efficiently manage access to sensitive content by controlling group membership directly, without requiring intervention from IT or security administrators.
    • Clearer Entitlement Definitions: Maintaining the integrity of group-to-folder associations ensures that access reviews are accurate and reliable, providing a clear understanding of who has access to what.
    • Streamlined Workflows: Delegating group membership management to folder owners empowers them to respond quickly to changing access needs, improving overall operational efficiency.

    In conclusion, the introduction of a "Group Membership Admin" role would significantly enhance our ability to manage access to sensitive information within Box, improve compliance with regulatory requirements, and streamline access management workflows. 13. Annotation feature for images pasted into BoxNotes

    After pasting an image into BoxNotes, I want to add text or lines on top of it.
    Sometimes need to use annotations for work, but since BoxNotes doesn’t have an annotation feature, I find it inconvenient.
    We would like to see this feature implemented to improve usability.

14. Enable Reliable Exports for Large amount of Content

    When there’s a large amount of content, the folder and file report export gets canceled. Please make it possible to complete the export.

    If exporting everything at once is difficult, splitting is fine—please allow selecting multiple folders and batching the export instructions.

15. Make Folder Auto-Delete Retry Past-Due Items

    Please improve Folder Automatic Actions so that folders with a deletion date in the past are also included in later auto-delete runs.
    Currently, if deletion fails on the scheduled date for any reason, the folder remains undeleted afterward.
    Requested change:
    configured deletion date = processing date
    → configured deletion date <= processing date
    This would make auto-delete more reliable even when processing is missed due to maintenance or a temporary issue.

    フォルダの自動削除で期限超過分も再処理されるよう改善してほしい

    フォルダの自動削除機能について、削除予定日を過ぎたフォルダも後続の自動削除処理の対象になるよう改善を希望します。
    現状は、指定日の削除処理が何らかの理由で失敗した場合、その後も削除されず残ります。
    要望する変更内容：
    設定された削除日 = 処理日
    → 設定された削除日 <= 処理日
    これにより、メンテナンスや一時的な問題で当日の処理が実行できなかった場合でも、後続処理で削除できるようになり、自動削除の信頼性が向上します。

16. AI in Hubs to query text/paragraph/hyperlinks

    AI in Hubs to be able to query the text within a Hub builder and links. AI as is, only references the content, not information from the Hub (builder) itself

17. Default Search Everywhere

    While I understand the need to search only in a folder, my company uses the search everywhere function way more.

    Is there a way to make the search "everywhere" option the default instead of search "only in this folder"? It slows us down so much right now having to switch it to find a different folder without going back to the home page, or switching the search feature.

18. Limit file naming to match Windows and iOS Requirements

    Box allows special characters in file names that Windows and iOS do not. This causes an issue when we sync files between Box and our network server: Box will accept special characters when naming or renaming a file on the Box side - but when that syncs back to our servers - the file name contains bad characters that windows doesn't recognize - so the file doesn't sync.

    Please limit your file naming to disallow the same special characters as Windows and iOS.

19. Manual start trigger in a box app

    I want to be able to select a set of records or files in a view and manually start a workflow on them from within a Box app. Right now, manual start is not available in Box apps.

20. Box AI does not recognize text in image-based PDFs

    Thank you for releasing Box AI for free.

    I am currently using Box AI with the feature enabled. It successfully recognizes text in document PDFs and image files (PNG, JPG, etc.), but it does not recognize text in image-based PDFs.

    When I take a screenshot of the content in an image PDF and save it as an image file (PNG, JPG, etc.), Box AI is able to recognize the text. This suggests that the issue may be related to the file format.

    If Box AI could also recognize text within image-based PDFs, it would greatly improve usability. I would appreciate your consideration of this enhancement.
