1. Folder Level Setting to Enable Office Online

   It would be outstanding if Box could enable some intelligence around editing office documents, and/or have a switch you could set to only allow designated files to be editable via Office Online. That way no one could accidentally step on changes to a file that someone else made, or cause a conflict which has to be manually resolved. This would be a real big win. And when I say designated files, I mean in a folder not across Box for all of us certain file type.

2. Box Sign - Send documents to CC recipient prior to full execution of document

   I would like for the individual(s) who are marked as Copy in the signature order to be able to receive the document prior to it being fully executed by every other person in the signing order.

   We have clients where one person signs, but others want to receive the document simultaneously even though they're not signing, and if we use Approver for their role, 95% of the time they are unaware they have an action and the document never gets passed them in the signing order.

   Please allow Copy individuals to have a place in the signing order other than at the very end.

4. For files, folders and users name, we need to use U+10000 - U+10FFFF in Unicode characters.

   Today, we can only use BMP in Unicode characters on Box.

   However, Windows OS supports many Unicode characters(eg, emoji), besides BMP, so this can be a problem in data migration from a file servers to Box.

   Also, in CJK, Unicode characters other than BMP are used in personal name, so we consider this to be a big issue.

   We hope to have many Unicode characters available everywhere on Box.

5. Combine Executed Signed Docs and Signature Log

   Currently, when you send a document to be signed, the signed executed document and signature log are saved as separate files. It would be nice if the signed doc and signature log were one document and saved as an updated version of the original document. Currently, it turns 1 document into 3 documents, and clutters up the folders.

6. New Box Drive for Windows (Cloud Files): Improve Explorer UX during startup/connecting to avoid unstable/incorrect folder state

   Problem (What problem could Box solve for you?)
   When Windows starts, the new Box Drive (Cloud Files architecture) auto-connects. During this “connecting/initializing” period, the Box Drive folder becomes visible in File Explorer even though Box Drive is not fully running/ready. The folder view is unstable: some items show missing icons/status, and opening folders can result in errors. This happens consistently across multiple users in our pilot.
   This behavior may be aligned with the feature “Box Drive folders remain accessible even when the Box Drive application is not running,” but exposing a partially-initialized state causes confusion and support tickets (users think Drive is broken or content is missing).

   Proposed improvement
   Please improve the File Explorer experience while Box Drive is starting/connecting/initializing so users do not see an unstable or misleading folder state. For example:
   Show a clear “Box Drive is connecting/initializing” placeholder and block navigation until ready; and/or
   Provide an admin/user option to delay/hide the Box Drive mount until Drive is connected; and/or
   Ensure cached vs. not-yet-available content is clearly indicated without throwing generic Windows errors.

   Steps to reproduce
   1.Install new Box Drive for Windows (Cloud Files architecture), version 2.48 (pilot).
   2.Ensure Box Drive is configured to auto-start on Windows login.
   3.Reboot the PC and open File Explorer immediately after login.
   4.Observe Box folder becomes visible before Drive is fully ready; icons may be missing/blank; opening folders may show errors.

   Impact
   ・End-user confusion (“Drive is broken”, “files disappeared”)
   ・Increased helpdesk tickets and delays in rollout/adoption of the new Box Drive

9. My biggest challenge is version control of files that are shared in multiple box folders.

   Ideally updating master file would then update all the different box files it is housed in that may have a variety of users. I spend more time on version controls and finding the latest one than anything.

10. We want users to be able to output a "folder and file" report for each folder.

    Currently, only administrators can output the "Folders and Files" report.
    We would like users with editor permissions for the target folder to be able to output a "Folder and File" report for each folder.
    At that time, We would like to be able to select whether the report will be output to that folder or the output destination.

11. Folder Tree View in WebApp (Windows Explorer/Finder, eBuilder)

    I noticed that Box does not have a high-level folder tree view, except in the 'All Files' page (you click on the arrow next to "All Files"). Many Box folders in my company's folder structure take a very long time to load - however the folder tree view on the 'All Files' page loads quicker, but still not as fast as another application like eBuilder. Having a permanent option on the web application would be very efficient when tracking down files, and load times won't be as cumbersome. Currently, having to click through multiple folders in order to access the contents of a folder that is buried deep within another folder is very slow.

13. Dragging files or folders out of BOX makes a copy

    With the recent update to BOX Drive, when you move something from BOX to your computer it removes it from BOX. It used to make a copy by default. We use BOX as a shared file server and this change allows for accidental deletion.

    Can you please add the ability to make this copy rather than move the file, only when moving out of BOX onto the computer or an outside volume?

15. Microsoft Teams iOS app does not open the specific Box folder.

    We're having an issue with Microsoft Teams app on iPhone - Box files plug-in within More tab. It is very possible that this Box Files button in Teams is not designed to link to the specific channel Box folder we have chosen, and instead is designed to redirect us to the All Files page "https://account.box.com/folder/0". On Windows PC, Teams app opens the the specific channel Box folder we have chosen.

16. Ability to download multiple files from a box hub

    We are using Box Hubs to gather assets from various folders in one place for publication. We need to be able to download all the assets so we can color-correct them, and it's a bit tedious to have to download them one by one.

19. Fix file/folder size, counts, dates and storage

    I'd like to preface this by saying that this is a bug that needs to be fixed, not an idea. Even so, Box suggested we post this here to get others to chime in and say that this should be fixed.

    This is a problem that's been around for at least 1.5 years.

    Often, when an account's folders and files are transferred to someone else, the account from which the data was transferred still shows something greater than 0 bytes owned. This becomes a problem for deleting that user, because we can't be sure if the transfer worked, and we don't want to delete an account that has data that will be lost forever. This seems to happen, more often than not, for accounts that have a lot of owned data prior to the transfer.

    At the moment the workaround is to have a script run every day to detect when this has happened, and to then create a Box ticket to have someone in Box support run their own homegrown script that rectifies the situation for the individual account. (Note, Box created this script because this is a known problem that they have to regularly fix.) So, it takes our time to detect it and create the ticket, and it takes Box's time to fix it and deal with the ticket. This happens almost every week at least one time.

    After 1.5 years, it's about time to fix this readily reproducible problem!

    I'd like to preface this by saying that this is a bug that needs to be fixed, not an idea. Even so, Box suggested we post this here to get others to chime in and say that this should be fixed.

    We are on track towards fixing this. We have made significant improvements in our Files, and Folder counts and their related sizes. They now happen in a near realtime speed and we also have a redundant process that runs and fixes these counts nightly. The current improvements are visible in most of your folders browsing experience and the enterprise level counts. We are in process of fixing counts that you can see for a given user, this will release in Calendar year 2024'Q3. There are also few minor improvements planned for the last quarter of the year.

20. iOS Files app "waiting to upload" problem/getting stuck

    Awhile back I could not get the iOS Files to work with Box documents. They would get stuck in the "waiting to upload." While they were helpful, I spent several emails with Box assistants and we couldn't find a solution and gave up. It seems obvious, but I finally figured out what happened. The Microsoft Office applications in iOS require an Office 365 account to edit documents. My Office 365 is through my work, and I am in education, so of course we get a terrible email at first and immediately start using the email alias. When Office required the account to edit documents, I used my non-alias email to sign in (it is what I used to originally set the account) but in Box, my alias email was primary. And with only three emails (primary and two linked) I didn't have the non-alias email there. That is pretty clearly where the conflict was coming from. I added my non-alias email address as a linked address, and now Files is working like a charm. Seems obvious, but I bet I'm not the only person this happened to with Office on mobile. Thanks
