  1. Users should know what they are exposing outside

Is it possible to have a simple page accessible by a user, to get :
    - all the shared links he has created (especially open links accessible by anyone outside, with or without password and expirity date)
    - and old outside collaborations (with Box accounts needed)
    ?

A lot of users create collaboration and shared links, and many months or years later they don't remember that these parameters are still in place (even if they don't work anymore with those external users).
It is a breach of security, exposing data outside of our company without knowing it…

  2. Transfer Ownership Enterprise Event

Currently, when you delete a user the only way to show that the content from one user to another user in the enterprise events are track two separate events:
    - UPLOAD (Creation of the new folder with the user's naming convention)
    - MOVE (From unknown location/user, to the new folder)

This mean you needs to track the newly created parent.name and the move event with the item.name. I'm proposing two potential enhancements:

    1) Enhance the MOVE event to show the source user/item details AND target user/item details.
    2) Create a new TRANSFER_OWNERSHIP event so that…

  3. Requesting functionality to recognize an existing file name (upon upload of a new file) and option to override or save with a new name.

Issue: End users may have documents coming in via email / etc. about a deal or a client that have the same name. When saving to Box from email, if the file has the same name as an existing file it is currently saved as a new version of that file. In reality, the document may be completely different. On Windows file server, they are used to having a prompt warning them that a file already exists with that name, with an option to either save & override the file or change the file name. They'd like to have…

  4. Ability to set folder notifications for external and internal collaborators within a folder.

Companies with many external collaborators have to walk each user through changing their folder notification settings so the external collaborator will be notified whenever a document is uploaded to a folder. This is extremely manual for us and their external collaborators. It would be easier if folder owners could set folder notifications for everyone within the folder so external collaborators receive the sames notifications as internal collaborators.

  5. Identify which files and folders a user owns within a shared Teams folder, that are not shared or collaborated with others

We encountered a situation where certain files inside a shared drive were only visible to one user, while others couldn’t access them. This caused confusion because the files appeared to be part of the shared structure but were effectively private. A feature that highlights or filters these user-owned, non-shared items would help prevent misunderstandings and improve transparency.

  6. Allow admins to report on activity of external collaborators.

We want to report on external collaborator usage of our specific content for a number of reasons:

    1) to be able to access if their external collaborators are no longer using our data and should be removed

    2) to help us understand how their internal users are working with people outside of the enterprise.

Right now, the reporting is limited to showing when people have accepted folders, or users can go to access stats - neither of these options is sufficient.

Ability to see activity of external Collaborators.

  7. Change a specification of the PST time given when conflicting item's name on Box Relay.

Currently, no matter what timezone users/enterprise set in its settings, the PST timestamp will be added to the item's name when conflicting name on Relay.

The specification will be changed to add the date and time depending on the user/enterprise settings.

  8. Improve Installer UX: Update Branding + Tell User What to Do

The Box Edit installer has 2 key issues today:

    1. It is old Box branding
    2. It doesn't actually tell the user what they need to do (which is to double-click the icon)

Many other modern installers, including the Box Sync installer, at least have an arrow or additional guidance telling the user to 'drag here' or 'double click to start the installation'. Box Edit doesn't have either of these, which means users end up confused about what they actually need to do.

REQUEST: On the Edit installer, tell the user what to do. Aka add text that says "Double click…

  9. I would like to see a lock feature implemented so that tenants with the "Box for Microsoft Office" feature enabled can occupy and edit files

Tenants with the "Box for Microsoft Office" feature enabled will not be able to update locked files.
As an alternative, the following procedure may be applicable, but has the following disadvantages

    ■procedure
     ①Lock the target file
②Download the file and update it locally
     ③Upload updated files
     ④Unlock

    ■demerit
     Many steps and cumbersome
If another user downloads > edits > uploads a file that is locked, the file will be updated.

Therefore, I would like to see a lock function implemented so that files can be occupied and edited like Box tools.

  10. Provide read-only scope for user information

I'd like to provide our central identity management team a way to tell whether or not a given Box user has a > 0 byte usage before they delete the user's account (for example, as someone leaves our organization). I'd like to give them read-only API access to https://api.box.com/2.0/users, without giving them any additional access. Support tells me that this isn't currently possible. It'd be nice if it was--this could be useful for a number of other uses, too, such as reporting.

  11. Allow users to REPLY TO folder invitations

When I invite a user to a folder, they receive an email.

    Today the email subject is:
My Name has invited you to work together in "Folder Name"
The From in the email is:
My email address on behalf of My name noreply@box.com

It would be extremely helpful for users to be able to reply directly to the invitation back to me. Instead, the users get an NDR.

We work with several other providers, and their notifications have the reply to: set as the user sending it.

  12. Request to Add Overwrite/Version Functionality to File Copy Operations via API

Currently the only way to add a version to a file is to download it and upload the new version with the If-Match header.

We are archiving files when a new file version is uploaded to a "main" folder, and to do that we have to download the existing version to our server and then generate a separate request to upload the file.

Ideally, we would be able to combine the requests into one - a COPY (https://box-content.readme.io/reference#copy-a-file) that can overwrite an existing file in the destination folder if the appropriate etag is supplied during the copy request.

This is not something we will build due to other roadmap commitments.

Alternatively, you could always upload latest version to “backup folder,” delete file from “current version” folder, then copy “backup folder” version to “current version” folder.

This will get you 100% version history in backup folder and avoid the need to download & upload the file a second time.

  13. Ability to insert custom words as watermark

If a user could add "Confidential" or "Company Secret" into watermarking,
the customer would be able to leave the legal evidence of the statement that the corresponding files are not allowed to disclose externally.
Also, it would be better if there is an option to set watermarking by folders as well.

  14. Request for improvement of Includes Subfolders feature in User Activity Report

    ( Japanese follows English)
The support article is as follows, but I would like to request that the Includes Subfolders feature also works and outputs the data in “View” for the following two reasons.
The report output screen does not show the fact that the feature does not work in “View”, so there is a possibility of misunderstanding.
It takes longer to complete [Run] than [View],

    Warning:
When the Includes Subfolders feature is on, the View option doesn't work - it doesn't pull events in the subfolders.

Sometime, Windows Explorer is missing overlay icons.
One of reason is order of registry key.

  16. Avoid accidental edits! Set local OS ReadOnly flag initially on ALL Box Drive files; When User Clears local RO, auto-Lock file for editing!

Currently a user can very easily ACCIDENTALLY change a file locally in Box Drive without locking. This can be completely avoided by this:

EVERY file in Box Drive should initially have local OS (e.g. Windows) "Read-only" attribute set. If and when the user explicitly Clears/Unsets the Windows Read-only attribute, e.g. in Windows Explorer (or chooses "Lock File For Editing in Box Drive" from context menu), Box Drive shall AUTOMATICALLY Lock it in Box, ideally only allowing local editing within Box Drive. There could be a pop up message like "File Locked for editing in Box Drive; be sure to Unlock…

  17. Please be able to specify which users can use the Box Graph Connector.

Currently, the Box Graph Connector is enabled for users tenant-wide, but we would like to be able to enable it for specific users.

For example, if some users are using Copilot for Microsoft 365, we need to be able to specify that only users who can use Copilot for M365 can use Box Graph Connector.

  18. Box Sync to Box Drive uninstall/install tool

I currently have Box Sync installed across the enterprise and want to move over to Box Drive without each user having to manually uninstall sync and install drive. Looking for a tool that would allow end users to perform uninstall and install all at once.

  20. File Request link upload notification

We want a feature of email notification which send to the actual user who uploaded the file.

I understand that if "require users to provide email" option is enabled, users can confirm the uploader's email address on web app. I found that the email address was shown in “Updated” column.

However, users cannot confirm the actual uploader from the report, and email notifications will only be sent to users who enabled notification settings of "upload" in their folder settings or account settings.

Enabling the above feature makes it much easier to confirm if the user successfully…
