Custom TOS should have an option to only apply to newly created folders
Custom TOS should have an option to only apply to newly created folders so that previous collaborators don't lose access to folders they are already collaborating in.

Require Passwords at Admin Level
As a security feature, it would be helpful to require passwords for all shared links. Right now they are only required at the User level and it is optional. It would be very helpful as a security feature to allow admins to mandate a password for all shared links.

Enable Box DICOM Proxy to send to multiple pre-configured folders
Currently, the Box DICOM Proxy can only send files to 1 specified folder and they are organized dynamically based on the DICOM metadata. If an admin wants to send files to multiple folders based on their own routing logic independent of the DICOM metadata, they need to install multiple instances of the Proxy. This is not scalable when multiple folders are at play.
The ask is to enhance the proxy to support multiple destinations per installation of the proxy. Each destination would point to a pre-defined folder created by the admin.

Nesting Box Notes into Sub Folders
This seems very simple. Just one level of subfolder nesting would help out tremendously!

Trash file from its preview
The trash command is missing from within the "..." button of the document view.
The workaround requires a lot of extra steps: navigate to the parent folder, select the file, trash the file.
Moreover it is not consistant with what is possible with folders: you can trash a folder from its own view.53 votes -
Confirm click-and-drag Move for folders
The user would like a confirmation that they really want to move an item to another location before it does it.

Folder Setting Limitations - Box Drive
We have folders for each office where they store their active and archived (old) jobs. These folders can can contain many hundreds of job folders (sub folders to the parent folder) representing hundreds of GB and even over TB in some cases of data. It is way too easy for users to simply check ‘mark for offline’ in Box drive or attempt to sync the folder in Box Sync.
When that happens we have custody of data issue for a ton of files. Further it allows people to easily steal data in bulk. Just in the past week we have…

When outputting a report from the Admin Console, the user interface for searching folders cannot uniquely identify folders with the same fol
When narrowing down the user activity report to activities under a specific folder, a search is performed by folder name, but if there are many identical folder names, it is not possible to uniquely specify the folder.
I would like to be able to display the folder path from the root or specify by folder ID.(Japanese)

Include all file names in expiration notices of retention policies
Retention notifications to include the name of each file (instead of just names of folders containing the files) that will expire in 14 days
25 votesWe have already released Disposition insights feature https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/48807652516243-Disposition-Insights.
It solves the problem in another way. The notifications are sent similarly like in the past but they are only a reminder for user to review expiring files on the Disposition Page in End User Web App. The page contains names and locations of expiring files. User can additionally narrow down the list to files expiring in the next 7/14/30/90 days.

Increase size of left-side menu on Home screen
The left-side menu on the Home screen is too narrow and cuts off the names of folders/files saved under My Collections/Favorites.
Users should be able to set whatever width is needed for the menu.
45 votesWe are making the overall Box Web App responsive so that users can get the information they need to engage with content effectively instead of improving the UX of each component piecemeal.

Slow when folder with many files/folders is being displayed in iOS App.
As it would take long time for the folder with many files/folders to get displayed, the ask is to improve performance to show folder content faster.
1 voteWe’ve recently made extensive improvements to the loading of these screens. Please let us know if you are still seeing issues.

Ability to see full name of Groups and Folders in the Admin Console
When adding or reviewing groups in Box new Admin console, we are unable to see the full name of the group and it does it does not appear in alphabetical order. Same is true for the folders collaboration section. The names are cut off and you cannot scroll or hover to see the full name. Even shrinking the screen does not help. This is very problematic for security reasons as you may grant access to the wrong group or the wrong folder or create duplicates if you miss seeing an existing group or folder. And it wastes alot of time.…

Need to have the ability to share links with "Invited people" in organization and to external people in named specific domain
Need to have the ability to share links with "Invited people" in organization and to external people in named specific domain.
We have a need to keep folder collaboration available to only a specific group of internal users but we would like to be able to have the ability to share files or folders with external collaborators in specific domains. Almost like another level of the "Invited People" type of link. Can this be considered as an enhancement?

Sharing a Collection
I understand that collections are meant to be a user specific setting, however, it would be great to have the ability to share a collection with a co-worker.
105 votesThanks for the feedback. Collections are going to remain as personalized views in the near future. We may revisit this down the road.

Control External Collaboration at User Level (not folder level)
Currently, users can have a restriction placed on them that folders owned by that user cannot be collaborated outside of the organization. However, if that user is invited into a folder that allows for external collaboration, that user can invite external collaborators.
We want flexibility to control this at a user by user basis. For example, User A should not be able to invite external collaborators, regardless of folder that they're invited into. However, User B should have the ability to do so (but only within folders that User B owns or within another folder that is set to allow…
4 votesThank you for this request! I’d like to see additional customers with use cases for user-level collaboration restrictions.
Collaboration is a setting that is tied to content rather than users, and I’m not sure that we have evidence yet to make changes to that model.

Slack: Show Preview of Box Files within Slack
Currently, the Box + Slack integration auto-unfurls Box shared links that are posted into a DM/Channel in slack.
The only Box file type that unfurls to a native (in-line) preview are image files (jpg, png, etc.).
Slack has a native preview for a video file uploaded directly in Slack, but no preview for the same file when shared via Box.
REQUEST: Add in the native (in-line) preview (that already exists for image files shared from Box) for many more common file types (Office files, PDFs, mp4s, etc.) -- possibly by leveraging the Box Preview API.

Possibility to share with non-Box users annotated files including the annotations.
Annotating files, especially pdfs, inside Box would be much more useful to me if I could share the annotated file, including the annotations, with non-Box users. A setting on the shared link dialog like "Allow persons with the link to view annotations" would be a great enhancement.
Thanks

Export owned and collaborated files & folder tree by user
When exporting user’s Files & Folder tree, it only shows the users owned folders. It should show all the content the user has in their account, including collaborated folders. even after selecting a specific user.

Ability to save reports to a custom location
With the upcoming report scheduling function, coupled with improved filters to better streamline reports that are generated, it would be really useful to be able to define a custom save location for a report that is generated as part of that process (i.e. to any folder within your box instance and not just the default 'reports' bucket).
Our use case is that we'd like to set up a series of scheduled reports (soon possible!), each one filtered to activities within a specific folder (also now possible!) and then have that report automatically save into the folder to which it relates…

Need APIs for auto deletion of files and folders.
Need APIs for marking files and folders for auto deletion in future date. This feature is on the portal, but provided as an API.
Box can add this as an attribute to the file upload or folder creation API. Or a separate folder/file attribute API, so the date can be changed, if required later after its creation.
We are automating activities on Box.com using RPA, the APIs are faster and reusable compared to the UI automation.
Box should introduce APIs for basic features such as this one, so these can be done at the backend and it is more optimized…
