  1. Ability to filter by external user on the UAR

Now that external user information is included in the user activity report (UAR) it would be great to have the ability to filter the report to just that one external user. We'd like the ability to filter by the external user's email address, just like we can with managed users. For large enterprises, running an open UAR leads to a very large report that takes time to sort and filter. The ability to filter to a specific user saves a ton of time.

  2. Separate color or icon for user-owned folder

When browsing user content in the admin console, I often need to determine which folders are owned by the user whose content I'm viewing. If there were a separate color or icon for folders that the current user owns, I wouldn't have to open every collaborated folder to check ownership.

This could also help users delineate which folders they own and which are owned by others. It would be a big help with communicating best practices around folder ownership.

  3. Shield classification user permissions

Request to make classification application settings specific to the classification. Currently, the setting for who can apply/remove a classification is for all classifications, but there are cases where it would be helpful that a classification to be only applied by owners and other where co-owner, or even editor would be allowed to apply certain classifications.

    Examples:
    1. A classification tied to a Shield access control rule that only owners can apply or remove
    2. A classification tied to a Shield access control rule that owner/co-owners can apply or remove
    3. A classification identifying a type of content that owners/co-owner/editors can…

  4. Content manager and folder picker for user activity report

Ability for group admin/Business admin to use Contents Manager (and folder picker for user activity report).
Currently, the group admin or admin of Business license cannot choose folder from picker on user activity report because they don't have the permission to view users' contents (or Contents Manager).

  5. Please implement the search filter of "User who deleted" in the Trash.

Please implement the search filter of "User who deleted" in the Trash.
(This is not same as the filter of "Items I owned" or "Items I deleted".)
Currently we can use owner filtering when searching for content in the Trash.
For further convenience, we need the feature to use filtering even for users who have deleted content.

  6. Merge Users - Ability to Merge 2 or More Accounts Into 1

A 'merge users' feature would help with the initial administrative burden of cleaning up existing accounts.

    Key asks:
--The ability to choose 2 or more Managed Users in Box to merge
--The ability to choose which email becomes the primary email for the user (thus which account will become the owner of the other account's owned content)
--The ability to choose whether demoted emails should be retained as email aliases or simply removed from the user's (updated) profile
--The ability to choose whether existing collaborations on externally-owned folders are retained (meaning account 2 is invited into an…

We are currently re-designing our managed users page for performance and usability updates which will be released at the end of this year. We will revisit newer features to user management after we release our new UI. In the meantime, please add your use cases in the comments so we can have this feedback when we decide to pick this up.

  7. Ability to select users outside the tenant in the user filter of the user activity report.

Currently, when retrieving activities of non-tenant users, it is necessary to output all without filtering and then select the target data in Grep.
Our tenants have a large number of users, and if all the data were to be output, it would be a huge amount of data, and the above process would take a lot of time.
I think that selecting users outside of tenants will reduce our work time and improve convenience, so I would really like to see this happen.

  9. We want BoxRelay to work with the privileges of the user who actually started the workflow, not the user who created the workflow.

In the current specification, workflows in BoxRelay operate under the authority of the user who created the flow, not the user who executed the flow.
This causes confusion because there is a discrepancy with the actual operation performed. We would like to improve this so that Relay can correctly confirm who started the flow.

  10. Control managed user external collaboration to webmail accounts

Setting that allows admin of corporate instance to control/limit managed users being collaborated into personal Box webmail accounts. This would be a setting to control/limit an outside Box webmail user collaborating a corporate managed user into its personal account.

  11. More granular setting options for users set to "Inactive" in the Admin Console

We would like two sub options for accounts set to "Inactive" status in the Edit User Profile details (in addition to the existing Inactive setting behavior):

Inactive sub-option 1: Enable a warning for all existing shares and collaborations that the Inactive user owns. If another user is accessing a folder owned by the Inactive user, they should be informed that the content could be deleted with the deletion of the account, and that a copy should be taken quickly.

Inactive sub-option 2: Enable a warning AND make content read-only for all existing shares and collaborations that the Inactive user

This is a good use case, but other user statuses might partially solve some of these needs. Let us know in the comments if it does not.

  12. Include file and folder IDs in user activity report

Running a user activity report for a deleted user shows the parent folder names the user was removed from, but no ID so there is no way to determine which folder they were removed from. (i.e. a searching for the parent folder called ACE returns 180 such folders).

  13. User can perform multi-doc AI queries from the Box Apps view

Currently a user can only select files in a folder to run a multi-doc query. They should also be able to select files in a Box Apps view to perform multi-doc AI queries.

Hi, thanks for voting for this topic! This feature became generally available at the end of October. Please see here for more information: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/43182352974611-Query-single-or-multiple-documents-in-a-Box-Apps-view-using-Box-AI

  14. Provide a solution to existing users to migrate their data to Box as Box Shuttle is restricted to tenant level

We are seeking an effective solution for user data migration. At present, Box Shuttle operates at the tenant level with a current subscription limit of 10TB. However, from the end user's perspective, it would be advantageous to implement data caps at the individual account level. This adjustment would enable users to migrate their personal data from various storage sources directly to Box.

  15. Control External Collaboration at User Level (not folder level)

Currently, users can have a restriction placed on them that folders owned by that user cannot be collaborated outside of the organization. However, if that user is invited into a folder that allows for external collaboration, that user can invite external collaborators.

We want flexibility to control this at a user by user basis. For example, User A should not be able to invite external collaborators, regardless of folder that they're invited into. However, User B should have the ability to do so (but only within folders that User B owns or within another folder that is set to…

Thank you for this request! I’d like to see additional customers with use cases for user-level collaboration restrictions.

Collaboration is a setting that is tied to content rather than users, and I’m not sure that we have evidence yet to make changes to that model.

  16. Restrict content creation at the user or group level

Request: Root content creation to be set at user or group level instead of the tenant so that the majority wouldn't have to sacrifice a open folder structure for a small subset of users with constraints. Ultimately looking for a hybrid solution.

  17. Display deleted user name instead of Prior Collaborator name on the Activity Details

Display the name of a previous commenter, approver or collaborator, even if the user has left the organisation. At the moment it just says 'a prior collaborator' and this is not helpful when retrospectively tracking why key business decisions were made.

  18. Confirm the downloading and copying files in User Activity

When users copy (Ctrl+C) files on Box Drive, and then paste (Ctrl+V) the files on their desktops, it is almost doing the same thing as "Downloading" or "Copying."
However, neither the above are recorded in User Activity.
We would like to be able to confirm the downloading and copying files in User Activity.

  20. Allow the "User Activity" report to be run for a folder and all sub-folders & content within that folder

Today, the admin may select to run the "User Activity" report for a particular folder. When run for a particular folder, the report will only filter on the contents of the selected folder, and not the contents of subfolders within. Request that the report includes the folder and all sub-folders & contents within that folder, removing the need to run the report at the enterprise level and filtering to a particular folder path from there.
