As an admin, I should be able to designate a folders zone (not restricted by the user).
In a closed environment where you have a single user designated as the owner, you are currently unable to utilize multiline tenancy. In an instance where UK HR Files need to have a zone of UK and US HR Files need to be in the US zone, I would need to create a separate service account to own each set of files.
Ideally you would be able to designate anything containing PII/PIA/IP to a root folder with a designated zone based on data storage compliance. Allowing multiple users to access without worrying about the need for unnecessary service accounts…

Ability to report on what types of files users have
The ability to drill down at the user level to show what kinds of files a user has. E.g. 50% .docx, 10% jpg etc. without looking at the content itself.

Let user disable shortcut top menu () or load shortcut menu before files listing
Hi everyone,
whenever we user move from one folder to the next, using the web app in a browser, the page load is delayed by the shortcut menu on top. This shortcut menu displays buttons for [Upload][Folder][Word Document][Excel Spreasheet].
The current implementation is sooo annoying, since these four buttons are loaded on page and after the files listing in the directory. Unfortunately this shifts the file list of the directory down on the page each time.
This shifting down the file listing on the page is so annoying for browsing directories, since in that time one can't aim for clicking…

Single File Collaboration - Preview Permission
The current implementation of Single File Collaboration is lacking the Preview permission.
As organizations transition to the single file model, the functionality should align to the folder permission model as closely as possible to maintain ease of use and consistency within the application.
The current behavior is to set the permission to Editor and require the user to navigate to multiple windows to downgrade rights to Viewer. The Viewer role still allows content to be downloaded to a local machine.
We request Preview rights so that functionality like Watermarking can still be leveraged and to minimize data spillage.

Automatically apply metadata and tags to folders and files with pulse
Box provides users and organizations the ability to apply tags and metadata; however, trusting all users in an organization to know when and how to apply tags and metadata is not plausible.
Box admins should be able to use Box Relay so that whenever a file or a folder is created/uploaded to a certain section of Box in our organization, then a tag or meta data flag is applied.
Example:
I have a folder called 2021 Tax Documents
Tag I want Applied: 2021 Tax Documents
Example File Name: File AIn the example above, as soon as the example file…

Allow Excel Formulas to Link Directly to Files on Box
Currently, when you open Excel on Desktop, it creates a temporary file on your own computer. When trying to connect one report to another through formulas, this results in the formula looking for the report on your desktop instead of the location the report is saved on Box. In order for the formula to update properly, you need to have both reports open at the same time.

Custom app to pull Access Stats on files/folders without admin privileges
Goal: Obtain access statistics on files/folders via custom app with no admin privileges
We have an enterprise app that manages one of our Box folders - i.e. the app is owner of the folder while most collaborators are just editors and some co-owners. Moreover, we have the 'hidden collaborators' setting enabled, which means that only owner and co-owners can view 'Access stats' in the browser. For other collaborators (being Editors) to view access stats, we would then pull the stats via the Box API - e.g. using the events endpoint. With our enterprise Box instance, however, we do not…

support editing of Open Office .odt, ods, and .odp files in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
I'm asking for Box not to block certain file compatibility functionality that is aIready within Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets, when not used through Box. I would like to edit Open Office Formats .odt , .odp, and .ods files, preferably from with Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets respectively. MS Word does not support Open Office formats, otherwise I would request that as well. Somehow, Box is blocking Google Sheets and Docs from opening their Open Office file formats (.ods, .odp and .odt). Normally, Google Docs can open .odt files, if Box is not "in the way". See attached…

block an upload by external user using Box Drive with smart access
The current Shield feature only controls downloading, cannot blocks uploading/syncing and is not ransom-proof. The biggest problem is that when external users use BoxDrive and BoxSync, ransomware-infected files are uploaded/synchronized on Box.

Geotag files (w/ metadata or tags) based on where they're created.
Tagging this information would allow users to search for files based on the location in which they created it. (use case: exec's that know they were in X place when they made X file)
2 votesThis is super interesting! We’ve heard more about geo-tags on data storage rather than data creation. This isn’t a priority for now, but we’ll keep an eye on this suggestion.
