Identifiers in child folders that parent has a open shared link
Currently if a folder is shared via an open shared link at the top level, users who have access at a child level have no way to tell if the content uploaded is shared externally.
Request: put some type of identifier shown at the child folders that the top level folder has a open shared link

Allow Box Sign to work without open shared links
At this time, our organization does not allow open shared links to the world, only those in the organization and those with the folder shared to them (internal and external). We were dismayed to learn from Support and Engineering that Box Sign will NOT function in this configuration, especially considering we feel this is not an unreasonable level of security to have on our folders. We still want to utilize the Sign function - help us out!
14 votesWe pushed a change yesterday to allow for folders and enterprises blocking open links to still allow for signature requests. For more details please refer to https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404094709779-Understanding-the-Sender-s-file-storage-and-permissions
Thanks for the patience as we fixed this issue.

Make Shared Folder Sorting Consistent Across Devices
Viewing a shared link on a mobile device ignores the sort preference that is established internally and only shows folders/files alphabetically.
I cannot think of a single example of how it would be beneficial to specifically alter the established folder/file sorting method to default to "Alphabetical" merely because the folder is being viewed on mobile.
Sort method should not be "device" dependent. Instead, it should be consistent across all platforms—especially given the fact that the shared-link folder/file list sort method cannot be chosen at the shared-user end.

Send a "here's how your items are shared" report to each user periodically
One of the most common sources of security breaches is due to a user inadvertently sharing an item more broadly or for longer than they intended.
A simple way to help limit those sorts of security breaches would be for Box to email every user a report periodically (configurable by the admin, but roughly monthly) that said "Here's how everything you own is shared with other people, and here's a link to the KB article that'll tell you how to fix it if it's not what you want", then showed a report of their folders, files, and shared links,…

Enable ability to auto-organize folders (e.g. by Name, Size, Date Updated), rather than manually doing so, similar to my desktop experience
Enable ability to auto-organize folders (e.g. by Name, Size, Date Updated), rather than manually doing so, similar to my desktop experience.
Today, if I create a new folder, it does not automatically fall into the organization structure that I've applied to my folders (e.g. alphabetically). I'd like this to be done automatically.

Remove "Global Share" and "Personal" folders
The additional folders make data retrieval, data organization and data sharing more cumbersome. It ultimately hinders the digital transformation initiative as other, more traditional tools, are not subjected to the additional folder structure. Shared Drives and SharePoint for example have no segregated folders, simply one place where data is shared and data organization is determined by the end users. Also, the security notification may be handled with a simple notification banner instead as is the case on SharePoint.

Allow Marking Folders as "Move Locked" To Prevent Users From Moving Certain Folders Regardless Of Permissions
Our admins are constantly dealing with users who accidentally drag and drop folders into other folders. This can have a big impact across our org, especially when a high level folder that's shared across the company is moved. Here's a common use case:
We have a top level Projects folder. That folder contains a subfolder for every organization we do business with. Those Organization folders then contain subfolders for individual projects. We'd like to be able to mark the Organization level folders as Move Locked so that our users don't accidentally move folders from one Organization into another.…
49 votesThank you for the suggestion. Box currently offers the ability to lock folders using the folder lock API - https://developer.box.com/reference/post-folder-locks/
We do not have a feature on our roadmap to expose this functionality from Box Drive. We will place this in our backlog as we continue evaluating ideas to improve Box Drive.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Gmail Integration: Allow Shared Links to Folders
Currently, the Gmail integration only allows you to create a shared link to a file. However, some users need to send a link to a folder.

shared link password
Currently there is an opportunity for Shared Links with a password to be brute force broken, as there are not any controls in place to disable after unsuccessful attempts. Two options to handle this are:
- Implement the configuration in the Shared Link Password protection option to set the number of unsuccessful attempts
- Implement an audit event that documents an unsuccessful Shared Link Password attempt, so that a custom implementation can monitor the unsuccessful attempts, and react accordingly.24 votesWe'll be evaluating improvements to Shared Links later this year and will provide an update at that time.

Moving shared folders should be simple and not involve changing ownership
Many people in my organization share folders with me. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ends up in my top-level directory. But some should be in one folder and some in another. I should be able to move any shared folder, even ones I am not a collaborator on, to ANY place in my directory structure without changing the physical storage space and without worrying about ownership. Why should the sharer have a right to clutter up my top-level directory with so many folders? It's pages and pages of stuff on the web interface. Since the real data is physically…

Open Shared Link Controls: Default Password Requirements for Open Shared Links
REQUEST: Admin would like the ability to set a global control whereby all public/open ('people with the link') links must have a password.
Our current controls on shared links impact all 3 Shared Link permissions causing additional impact on the user experience.
166 votesInstead of “require password” security control, we intend to support “Require OTP” requirement for public links (via SMS, Email, or TOTP). I wanted to share where we are headed. We do not plan on delivering this ask as is, but we do intend to solve the security use case behind it.
Please comment if you disagree.

Shared Links - Ability to Have Multiple Shared Links per Item (Folder/File)
Currently, Box's shared link system is a 1:1 ratio between items (files/folders) and shared links, meaning there's 1 shared link per item.
However, there are various scenarios where users would like to have the ability to create multiple shared links per item, each link with different permissions, etc.
Example Use Case: For File A...
--I want one 'people with the link' link with a password added and an auto-expiration set for 10 days from today so that I can share this link to time-sensitive content externally
--I also want a persistent 'people in your company' link that my…3 votes -
Enable shared link expiration notifications for user that enabled the shared link
For a closed folder structure, where the primary admin owns all content, Box should give the ability to 1) disable shared link expiration notifications for folder owners and 2) enable them specifically for the users that created the shared link to begin with.
Even if the former will not be changed, the latter behavior would be important for a closed folder structure.

Shared Link options via Outlook.
We want to be able to select Shared Link options via Outlook.
For example, the default setting of [Shared Link] is “People in ***(company name)”.
Other Shared Link options (Ex: People with the link) cannot be selected, when users “Attach from Box” via Outlook. It would be more convenient for users if they can change Shared Link options via Outlook (without opening Box Web App).

File Request - Display Icon on Folders with File Request Enabled
On the website, much like the icons on/next to folders for Shared Links, Descriptions, or Sync To Desktop, it would be nice to have an icon for folders that have the File Request feature enabled on them. It would greatly assist with being able to easily identify folders that have the feature enabled at first glance. Thank you.
32 votesThe File Request Enabled indicator is available under Shared Link on the right-hand side.

Box Drive Adjust Shared Links
Content Owners should be able to adjust a shared link setting directly from Box Drive, i.e. change from "People in this Folder" to "People in my Company"

Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Deactivate all shared links at once
Problem: Shared link sprawl due to poor/absent use of shared link expiration features, with no way to remove them in bulk. Our organization now has upwards of 40k shared links that we have no way of clearing feasibly.
Solution: Option of deactivating all shared links for an organization.
