Show My Recent files in Box for Gmail by default
Box for Gmail: Show recently accessed files and folders by default within Box for Gmail.
Oftentimes I'm attaching a file I was recently working on, so it would be nice to not click through my entire folder structure to locate the file I want to send as a link. Gmail currently does this with Google Drive.
2 votesWhen attaching files from Box to Gmail, users that have recently attached files can now see those files under Recents, and can additionally see Favorites.

Syncing files and having them download to devices automatically
Create a setting in Box Drive so that files, once updated, automatically sync and download to all devices for use offline. Now, we have to designate each folder for "use offline." Why not have a setting that allows us to make that the default (so it functions like Box Sync)? As it now stands, I'd have to know in advance which files I might use on a flight, if I'm traveling with a different computer. That's a pain.

UI enhancements for easy viewing of pdf files on iPhone & iPod
When displaying pdf files using the Box App on iPhone & iPod, after scrolling to view the top of the file, the app seems to take control over the display and auto-scrolls the file upward causing the top of the file to be outside of the screen. Is there any way to correct this? Thank you! 8-)

Increased file limit for Box AI for Hubs
Currently, Box AI for Hubs is limited to 10,000 files per hub and 1,000,000 files combined across all hubs in an tenant.
For use cases such as distributing hubs on a departmental basis, this number is low, so we would like the limit to be relaxed.Box AI for Hubs
61 votes -

Transfer ownership of a file
I was blown away that I can't change the ownership of "files", only folders. We have a user that retired and we need to transfer ownership of all her content to other employees (not just a single employee). Transferring ownership of a "folder" is easy and straightforward.
Box has a limitation that prevents you from transferring ownership of an individual file. This user has about 40 files at their root of her account (under All Files). The only way to change ownership is to move the file into a folder and then share and change the ownership…

Include Path Collection in the result of Event API
Event API does not include the path collection for updated files. Thus, to get the updated files, another File Info API should be called.
This situation increases the number of API calls and causes the complexity of the client program and the performance issue.
Could you include the path collection in Event API results?292 votes -

Default to files being in alphabetical order
it's such a bummer that I have to click the file button on top to sort an alphabetical order… And it's not even me… there are people on my team we don't know how to do this yet… This should be a very standard feature

Limit large files to desktop viewing only
Really large files should not be shown on mobile device and so we'd like to inhibit people from being able to see it.
Large files 100+ Gig, ‘rushes’ from ad shoots moved in disk, genomics files at academia,… must solve user experience issue with mobile/web – we want to be able to classify that content as desktop only.

Add support in Box UI Elements for users to rename files before upload is completed in mobile/embedded experience
This enhancement would improve document capture workflows where meaningful filenames are needed at the point of upload for easier identification, retrieval, and downstream usability. Today, the lack of rename-during-upload support creates friction for mobile use cases, reduces efficiency when many similar files are uploaded, and can force teams to rely on custom upload logic instead of standard Box UI Elements.
Requested enhancement:
• Allow users to edit filenames before upload commit
• Ensure the experience works well on mobile form factors
• Preserve the user-defined filename in Box after upload
• Optionally support configurable naming rules or validations for admins and…12 votes -

Make Box Drive Mark for Offline (MFO) file accessible when Box Drive not running
Would like for files in Box Drive that are marked for offline (MFO) to be accessible whether or not Box Drive is currently running (e.g. before Box Drive starts up at login). Currently, offline files are only available after the Box Drive software has loaded -- this poses a problem for files that need to be available at user login time like the user profile files (Desktop/Documents/etc.). Box Sync worked fine for this purpose, but Box Drive MFO does not.
11 votesBox Drive needs to be run in order to access any of the content or features of the product.

Box Tools - Excel as default application for CSV and XLS
We would like Box Edit to have Excel as the default application for all excel files, including CSV.
Right now we run into an issue with CSV files where it is necessary to perform an operation to copy and then paste to Excel from Notepad. (Since opening CSV files might cause garble due to a character code (UTF-8), we are opening Notepad first and then open Excel files)
Another workaround would be editing the registry which is risky and inconvenient - which is why we would like Edit to automatically open CSV with Excel as the default62 votesWe don’t plan to implement this exception in Box Tools. However, we’re working on a related solution: the ability to open files in Finder/Explorer via Box Drive, where you can then choose to open them with a different app. Stay tuned for updates.

Unable to see file/folder/metadata details when viewing deleted files
Scenario: A user deletes a folder and the admin, from content manager, is looking to quickly see which files were in that folder. Conversely, if a file is deleted, it's not easy to see which folder it was in.

Edit Locked files when Co-Authoring is turned on by the user trying to edit
Our workflow uses both coauthoring and often requires locking files to prevent others from editing while in use. The new coauthoring with Office locks out the user that is trying to edit the file. It would be nice to be able to use both when needed. Now, if a user tries to lock a file to prevent access to it while editing, that same user that locked the file is prevented from editing it. Or maybe add an additional option to edit and lock.
