Set default file view and sort options by folder (and all sub folders for that folder)
Ideally, let an owner or editor of a folder set the default view (list or grid) and sort order of the files.
The system default appears to be by date the file was updated which is rarely (if ever) what our users want.
Re: view options: For photos especially, the list view is rarely the preferred view.
Additionally, with the grid view, allow the size of the image also be set as a default.
This may not be an admin console enhancement. I think it needs to be a under More when you’re looking a a folder.

Shield Shared Links: Password Requirement
Passwords for public links are wonderful, however, the capability to enforce all links (even those with internal or collaborator scope) would be beneficial for users and content security. If this password requirement could be tied to classifications as an access policy, that would make it increasingly difficult for negligent or malicious actions on Box content. Currently, we can only decrease the scope available for shared links, but by requiring a password, there will be additional adoption for Box and Shield, especially within highly regulated industries that require external or public distribution of content.

Remove or filter out particular Box Notes from Inbox without deleting
The Box Notes Inbox contains a long list of items that are shared with me but that I may never access again. I can't remove my collaborations because they are stored within enterprise-owned folders that are shared with the entire company at a high level (e.g. all "Projects" are shared with the entire company in case we need to reference them, but I am not part of the project team for most of them). We would like a way to remove or filter certain Box Notes from the Inbox so it is less cluttered.

As part of our ongoing commitment to securing all of our customers’ most critical content, Box has launched the Beta for a new watermarking feature that enables organizations to apply watermarking to their video content - this beta is targeting Shield Customers mainly.

Option to request access to a folder
Request: If an external or internal user is forwarded a Box folder invite and they are not a current collaborator, they should have a mechanism to request the access and such request should automatically go to folder Owner/Co-owner for approval or decline. This should be done in a way that does not display or communicate the folder owners name.
Rationale: We have many external users that are part of large teams. Adding all (and maintaining) in the team is not feasible. These external users often forward the folder invites.

Please separate the colors of the icons displayed in folders and files.
Due to the release of Box Shield's new classification indicators, the colors of the "lock icon" and "shared link icon" displayed on folders and files are all grayed out.
In the past, the "lock icon" was red, and the "shared link icon" was blue, etc., making it easy for users to see and use.We believe this is a far cry from Box's goal of accessibility, which is "ease of use for all users."
In order to provide an easy-to-use environment for all users, please restore the icon colors to the previous specifications or color code them.(Japanese)

Ability to lock down folders to prevent accidental moving of files or deletion
Ability to lock down folders to prevent accidental moving of files or deletion

Allow Marking Folders as "Move Locked" To Prevent Users From Moving Certain Folders Regardless Of Permissions
Our admins are constantly dealing with users who accidentally drag and drop folders into other folders. This can have a big impact across our org, especially when a high level folder that's shared across the company is moved. Here's a common use case:
We have a top level Projects folder. That folder contains a subfolder for every organization we do business with. Those Organization folders then contain subfolders for individual projects. We'd like to be able to mark the Organization level folders as Move Locked so that our users don't accidentally move folders from one Organization into another. This happens…
49 votesThank you for the suggestion. Box currently offers the ability to lock folders using the folder lock API - https://developer.box.com/reference/post-folder-locks/
We do not have a feature on our roadmap to expose this functionality from Box Drive. We will place this in our backlog as we continue evaluating ideas to improve Box Drive.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Provide a way to "pause" syncing of files marked for offline
Allow a use to stop/pause syncing of files that are marked for offline access. We have multiple users who travel and are on metered connections but still need access to the internet and their offline files.

Image Shared Link Permissions should Match the Box Note's Shared Link Permission
For example, when a Box Note's shared link is set to 'people with the link', all images in the Box Note should also automatically be updated to be 'people with the link' links.
The current issue is that when I set a Box Note's link to 'people with the link' but my company's shared link default is 'people in your company', all the embedded images in the Box Note are still set to 'people in your company', meaning if a non-authenticated user accesses the 'people with the link' Box Note link, they'll see 'insufficient privileges' for all the images in…
49 votesThank you for the feedback. We understand that the current permissions behavior for Box Notes images is not necessarily intuitive, and are actively looking into ways to improve that user experience. We don’t yet have a timeline for delivery, but will update here when its available.

Box Sign - Make PDF form fields fillable
Box Sign does not currently recognize embedded PDF form fields. You can add a text, date, checkbox, or signature field to a PDF document, but the original form fields are unavailable (but left intact).
Use case: We ask our contractors to complete IRS W-9 forms using the standard IRS fillable PDF forms. If Box Sign could recognize the embedded fields in the IRS forms, our contractors could fill out, sign, and file the forms in one process. As it is, we will have to send them the fillable PDF form, ask them to fill it in and send it to…

Query 2+ Metadata templates together
I am interested in querying 2+ metadata templates together via the MD Query API. Right now, I can only query 1 template at a time.

Allow the use of Linux devices as approved devices.
We had Linux based user using Box web console and as of the July update, they are no longer able to access Box. I would like to see Linx OS be added to the approved Operating Systems list in the Admin Console for enterprise settings.

Ability to pin a folder to remain at the top of the main Box Web App screen.
Either a user or an admin should be able to pin a folder.
Using favorites is the current alternative, but for usability purposes and sharing important content, pinning would be helpful as well
48 votesThank you for the suggestion. There are definitely use cases for which this would be useful, but it is not currently prioritized for this year. We will revisit this in the future.

SSO exception
Ability to have exceptions for SSO for specific amdin accounts/test users. Use case: there's a series of admin accounts we use that own folders/content in Box but aren't actual users. Now when we want to turn on SSO - we now have to have OKTA accounts for those accounts and test users, when we'd prefer to just do Box 2FA for those vs. SSO enabled for all
47 votesUnfortunately this is not on the near-term roadmap, that being said this is a very interesting request which we may consider in the mid-long term.

Go directly to the folder in Explorer/Finder
A one-click solution that takes me from a specific Box location in the web browser to the same location in Windows Explorer on my computer.
Essentially, the opposite of "View on Box.com" Windows Explorer feature.47 votes
